Not quite. Updating manually to every single nightly if you're into that sort of thing is tedious. Hell, the whole reason why I even bothered writing updaters in the past was to prevent myself from having to transfer the files manually. If you don't want nightlies, don't use them. I wouldn't have removed the option. At most, I'd have hidden it and make it show up or not through a config file.
Why not just spend your time forking it and adding the nightlies back?

Because I don't use Luma? I mean, if I ever feel bored enough, I can fork it and submit a PR.

I'm gonna be straight and honest with you guys. I only picked up this project to fix the small text issues that the original had. I didn't expect myself to keep up with the project when b9s dropped nor did I expect the hourlies to become an issue.

Most of the changes to LU were not my code (as seen and properly credited in the changelogs). I can't call myself a dev because most (if not 99%) of the changes weren't me. My knowledge of C/C++ isn't anywhere near to the level of the app. I'm a full time online college student who's swamped with homework and I also have to help take care of my grandma.

I don't want you guys to think I'm trying to find the easy way out of this and beg for help. I want to help. I want to make LU an app that people can use and be happy with when the Luma devs release an update. I'm not begging for help. I just want to explain my situation.

I have an idea for if you reintroduce nightlies.

Have a series of screens of information saying things like, what a nightly is, why it might be unstable, where the user can find their old backed up boot.firm, how to go back if unstable, etc. To go to the next page the user has to pass a series of D-pad tests like Decrypt9, or B will cancel it and go back to main menu from any of the info screens. Then, at the end, a series of quiz questions with multiple choice options which the user has to pass to be able to download the nightly (info for which was in the preceding screens).
For example, "My original boot.firm file will be backed up to:" a) boot.3dsx b) boot.bak c) boot.firm.bak d) boot.firm e) arm9loaderhax.bin
Or, "If the nightly causes issues I can recover by:" a) formatting my SD card b) deleting boot.firm and renaming boot.firm.bak to boot.firm c) going into gbatemp.net and accusing the author of bricking my console d) boiling my console in hot oil

The options could be chosen by different buttons

That all sounds fine (and honestly a good idea), but I'll reiterate that my knowledge of the code is very limited at best, and until I get free time, no major work to the app will be done unless it comes in the form of PRs.

"boiling my console in hot oil" pfffft xD

Hello. Can you please make a quick fix to Luma3DS Updater? Whenever I boot it up, it says, "Could not obtain update details." I know this is most likely due to GitHub removing the TLS 1.1 or whatever it's called. My console has internet up and running obviously. :P

It's a WIP. Have patience please. This is not a "quick fix."

Will you inform us when you release the fix? Or will the current version of Luma3DS Updater automatically download and install it? Sorry. That is my last question.
I will let you guys know when a release is available. The automatic updater for Luma Updater hasn't worked since I took over the app and I'm not sure why.

Same, it's very annoying trying to update a system today just to find out the app has problems and can't connect. I had to ask my step-dad for tools to open my phone and put the new boot.firm onto the SD manually. Annoying as fuck to be honest...

No wonder half of my homebrew apps wouldn't update.... PKSM won't download assets, FBI won't update within the FBI app, etc.

I used 3DShell ftp server to upload to the console the new released cia files for many homebrew that had the updates broken. Some fixed the update issue in the new release.

Have either of you bothered reading the previous posts? I KNOW it doesn't work anymore. I'm trying to work on a fix but I can't if people are telling me something that I already know. You guys aren't entitled to anything. Have some damn patience.
