Hacking Wood R4 BUGS and Compatibility

Clean ROM: YES i think (obtained from this site)
What the bug is: DS card not inserted

i'm fairly certain i followed the instructions however i still get the same issue i was having before updating the firmware, namely that there is no DS card inserted? if more info is required by all means ask, however i may need guidance on where to find some info (while i love playing games the technical and programming stuff eludes me)

i have R4 i gold plus 2018 (www.r4ids.cn) and i'm tryin 2 put inazuma eleven 3 the ogre, i only get white screen.
i mean, white screen on both of either original one JP or the patched one EN.

also, tnx for the views, i appeciate an answer . . .

This is probably due to anti-piracy, I recommend you use my cheats because I added AP fixes a while ago. If it still gives you a white screen then the kernel just isn't compatible with it at all.

NOTE: This database does not have translation ROMs at all, I plan to implement that later on.

Do you have a R4i Gold 3DS Plus? Is the switch at the "D" state?

I just tested it with my R4i Gold 3DS Plus with the latest kernel 1.64, it works just fine, you don't even need the AP fix cheats for it.

Hey, Flashcart Wizards.

I've been trying to install Wood on an R4 Revolution for the past day, and haven't figured out a way to get it to work. Installing it as instructed on the download page has gotten me nowhere, as the R4 freezes on it's initial loading screen (the one that shows that the cart is working, but the SD isn't). I've formatted the card with your recommended program, and set it up with the latest firmware (I believe, 1.62), and I'm running into the same problem. I've tried installing moonshell again, with Wood running as a second .nds file, which works, yet it gets stuck loading roms. So, I downgraded to an older version of Wood, and it loaded roms, yet couldn't save to them.

If there's an easy solution, or an alternative method I don't know about, I'm not dead set on using Wood, but moonshell is starting to give me problems, corrupting save files and such.

I've spent way too long on this already, upwards of four hours (partially due to my own incompetence), so any help would be appreciated.

Note: The back of the cart has a sticker on it, with the letters SE in the centre and a bunch of numbers in a grid around it. It leads me to believe I may not actually have an R4 Revolution, but some imposter.

Mind providing a picture of it? I can tell what works with it just by looks.

To be honest that looks like a fake R4 (hard to tell really), BUT I think I may be able to help, give me some time to whip something up for it.

Here try this, I hope at least one of these works, if not then let me know.

Primary Boot Kernels:
- R4 v1.18 English (You need to set the date backwards)
- Wood R4 v1.62

Dual Booting Kernels:
- R4 v1.18 + Wood R4 v1.62 (You need to set the date backwards to boot into the R4 kernel)
- R4 v1.18 + YSmenu v7.05 (You need to set the date backwards to boot into the R4 kernel)

Triple Booting Kernels:
- R4 v1.18 + Wood R4 v1.62 + YSmenu v7.05 (You need to set the date backwards to boot into the R4 kernel)

I have listed the kernels above and all the boot methods for each, for the dual boot and triple boot methods, ALL of them will boot into the regular R4 kernel first, due to the kernel "expiration" error, you need to set the DS console date backwards. Once you are able to access the menu screen of the flashcart you are able to choose between one of the NDS files to load into another kernel. It is preferred to use Wood R4 over everything else due to its compatibility and reliability. Once you download one of the methods be sure to extract everything inside the 7z file and stick everything onto the root of your SD card. I really hope this helps, have a good day!

Clean ROM: YES
What the bug is: Game does not boot on 4gb class 4 microSDHC card if allocation unit size is set to 2kb. Loading text turns red.
What you did to debug it: Verified CRC32 within Wood 1.64 launcher, matched known good dump, data corruption unlikely. Would not boot. Reformatted SD card with 8kb allocation unit size. Problem resolved. Same CRC32 hash.
How you can repeat the bug: Attempt to boot with 2gb allocation unit size. Note that i have not tried this with other microSD sppeds/sizes.

Researching this was a pain, hope this helps someone.

After resetting the game and returning to main menu I can't open the folder where the game is. UI freezes. After deleting sav., rts files folder can be opened. Why?)
