No I like being able to take my time at the "what will you do" menu. It can help you think your next move. It's like chess. Not soccer.

This completely ignores the subtleties of sales and marketing. On most products, you know the risk because there's something similar out there already. Nintendo didn't have that safety net with Wii. Or WiiU. Or Switch. So obviously it's a bigger risk when you don't know what the overall risk is going into it.
Pokemon is the top-selling franchise in the history of the world. Don't kid yourself, it doesn't matter what you or I think, they're free to change it however they want and it'll still sell. They could turn the core game combat into Candy Crush and it would still sell. The branding alone is too powerful.

What's your point? I already said the money is likely not what matters most to Game Freak/Nintendo here. They're not risk-averse because they're fucking loaded.

Precisely, they have nothing to show. Cobbling together a battle demonstration in 720p would be easy, probably wouldn't take them more than a week to wow everybody and get hype levels up. They haven't done it because there's a lot more work to be done before anything can be shown. Suggesting a big overhaul for parts of the game, combat or otherwise.
I'm not solidifying anything about this as concrete in my mind. You seem to be in denial that there's any possibility for changes, however.

They're announced with a trailer, which is usually little more than a few battles and some dialogue. Regardless, that wouldn't be hard to put together either. The whole Pokemon 3DS engine was probably running on Switch within a month, so if they wanted to grab that low-hanging fruit we'd already have Pokemon Stars.
every new gen has a slightly diferent engine besides the remakes they never use the same engine twice, also sun and moon is not what they want to follow, it will probably be more linear pokemon game with gyms and such again, i doubt they will do the crappy toten pokemons ever again.

x and y plays diferent from sun and moon, you can fell the pacing, animations, walk movements, and such everything is diferent trainers dont even come to you on sun and moon, like they do on x and y.
If you say so. They still look nearly identical, so it's possible they updated all that stuff, it wouldn't require an engine change.
