This is Team Xecuter we are talking about here, I'm confident we will see a reliable working modchip from them before long.

If there are "issues with reliability" of the entry point, that means the entire system is on shaky ground. That's not something you happen to discover after you've announced the product and made prototypes. Seriously, how could they not know this? It doesn't seem trustworthy.
If it's a hardware-based attack, it's entirely possible that the setup they used initially didn't translate well to the prototype boards they designed and ordered. This is what prototyping is for, they will go through a few iterations until it's stable again

This. Stabilization is key here. Especially when it comes to potentially modifying your system's hardware to even be able to achieve this. Realistically, they should have waited on an announcement.

I don't mind that they announced it when they did, I just wish that they'd give a little more information in updates. Clearly though the biggest issue is the attention span of the community

That is also true. Still, I miss the good ol' days when announcements were more than teasers! RAWR!!

I'm not really looking to get their product since I'm on pretty low firmware, but that "all" really grabbed my attention. Hopefully they really can deliver a product that will help out higher firm users.
