so basically t(r)icks is a sort of frameskip? or in-build speedhack? cause i loose tonns of fps in cause of gettin normal speed in mh4u for example on 2600k (game becomes like - fullspeed but 17~sh fps instead of 40-50% speed 30-35 fps)

(or maybe i just didn't understand right how to use this ticks thing?)
it seem to be a unlogical core 3ds because it's like 100 % but more slow than the reality games
it could also helps for the sound flow depending on frames with this kind of console /:

Someone already explained it in this thread
Im adding said screenshot functionality and a way to use custom textures in my next build.

As for the explanation... let me try explain in a simpleway. Think of the 3ds as a pc, like every pc it needs an operation system. A part of the operation system is the kernel which manages running programs and gives access to the hardware. It also preforms scheduling which tells how long a program should run. The 3ds uses a special kernel called a microkernel what that basically means is that system calls (if a program needs hardware access i.e access to the GPU it accesses them through a system call) are also treated as a normal program. Citra as an emulator must emulate every aspect of this kernel. Now addticks messes with the scheduler timings which in turn messes with how long a system call needs to wait and how long it runs. Now u might be thinking "Oh just let all the system call run immediately without waiting" while that maybe true thats not the whole story. System processes running in the background waiting for request from other programs (games / other system calls) will also get speedup meaning it will check for the request more frequently which will fill the backlog of stuff that needs to be processed which translates to the main program(games) getting buried in the backlog which translates to the game thinking "Oh the system is lagging better make myself run faster" which fill fills the backlog even more until the game reaches a comfortable "speed". I hope u can see how hacky of a workaround this is and why im not adding it in my build because games runs better without any addticks manipulation. Ive said this before the current bottleneck making games slow is the vertex processing which is handled by the cpu phantom is working hard to move that to gl which will make the bottleneck gone and games wil run butter smooth.

If you move add ticks to the point where the max framerate changes to a lower number, you should dial it back because you're actually running the game slower, just try to find a number that makes it run a little better without changing the max framerate.

thx for repeat explanation - past days this tread was a bit messy and im missed it, sry. well i got the point. too sad 4U for me anyway too heavy to 2600k managed it without big fps loss. If there only was a way to turn off 3d like in gen/xx... but whatever.

thx again to all.

26000 is too much for mh4u that make fake speed, try with around 14000 look the % no the fps because the frameskip they are showing only the frame in screen for example 15/30 the other 15 is skipping frames for second for more speed

but of course there are fakes speed by set exagerate "ticks" just look the ingame speed you will and you notice it

in mhgen/x i remenber the 3d function you will put it off in menu-start go option gamesettins or something similar and you will see the 3d option

Maybe it got stolen? I dunno. Would be better to play it on PS2 btw. I heard that DQ8 on the 3DS is a terrible port.

Hye,i just want to confirm something, when i play mhxx in citra,i noticed that when i compared fps in citra using speed 2.6ghz(normal mode)and 3.5ghz(boost mode),the fps in the game still the same,so does it mean cpu not really affected fps in citra?or i missing something?can some explain?(sorry for my english)my spec is i7-6700hq,8 gb ram ,gtx960m(2gb vram)

CPU does affect citra and do it most. Just yours is enough (i think) for mhxx - unlock max speed in settings and compare. 30 fps for xx not so hard to achieve for latest builds with gut cpu.

i already unlock the max speed and compare ,the result still the same, the fps same for both 2.6ghz and 3.5ghz,but when i change the setting at nvidia control panel, change it to run with high performance (and on the triple buffering) the fps increase a lot, more likely the gpu affect the most,(correct me if im wrong, still newbie here

it came first by citra not by ur pc if you can have more fps it's only because your cpu is more faster by citra not yet optimized for those games
my pc can run cemu 1.11.4 using the engine of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild at 25-30 fps .Yes citra is maybe a 3ds but still between a 3ds and a wii u not to hunt.some games are naturally not playable on a pc strong with those emulators.
who can run luigi's mansion 2 at max speed with a core i7 8700k at 5.2 ghz ? :glare: generally the games square enix run better on all kinds of emulators ,not a joke on os remix on my pc ...it's as android or linux i can run all the games square enix perfectly
if you run so slowly pokemon moon with a amd sempron..it's the cpu of my mother lol yes it's understable ,normally i5 / i7 2.4 ghz is enough

i am trying to creep up on the lizard on the hunting ground part, but i am having hard time doing it
On a keyboard, hold D and move with the arrow keys.

But for controller. It supposed to have full 360 analog. Which means, you slightly move slow. But I dunno about Hori Controllers though. Try on keyboard for that.

Wrong. If your gpu is a bottleneck for emulator - cpu overclock really wont show any improvements. BUT if it is not - cpu will have major speed profit if single-core was improved in some way (660ti for example is more that enough for mhxx on x8 internal res and it isn't loaded more that at 60% in quests)
From the other hand - nvidia settings do "magic" not only for emulation. And performance mode + tripple buffering helps even in usual games in many cases.

Also for another example - i7 [email protected] runs mhxx well and ofc not loaded full cause no real multicore support for emulator yet - but i3 2100 at stock already can do like only 20fps in same sick/mingw 18-01 build.

And im not sure if this proper thread for this discussion -\
