c3 stands for c c c
which stand for
chaos communication congress

with the number in front being the times they were held.

Easy. :)

(And its organized by the chaos computer club (german hacker "union" ;) ) - which explains the fondness for the three c's and the chaos in the title. :) )

Just got my Splatoon Bundle Switch :D v3.0.0, I'm wondering if there is a way to access eShop and redeem Splatoon without the firmware update? I read some old threads that said it's not possible anymore with v3.0.0 but I'm asking if someone knows any current trick whether it's dns blocking or something else.

No there's not. You have to update to use online

I just bought a Switch, it's on 3.0.2 (PAL).

I also got myself a 256GB Micro SDXC card. Now, the Switch is prompting me to update, in order to be able to use it?

Do I actually have to update beyond 3.0.2 to use SDXC? I mean that would be odd, 3.0.2 is not like old or something right? Heck, the Switch it self isn't...

It will update your switch version if you try and get that update.

Oh no, I wasn't contemplating to try and update anything.

Just wondering if it actually wants me to format it in a certain way, or create a folder or something, perchance.

Edit:
So which version supports SDXC?

You probably don't need the card anyway until you can access the eShop, so I'd just leave it out of the console and put it in when it's needed.

the switch has to install an update in order to use sdxc. like @Uumas said, you don't need the sd cad until you can download stuff from the eshop

I have a question. Let's say I want to use homebrew for future games, like Smash Bros. Will homebrew installed on older firmware versions have compatibility with future games that require newer firmware?

I'm on a firmware less than 3.0.0! What can i do?
Stay on your lower firmware, homebrew works on 3.0.1 and below. Lower firmware is always better

I'm on 3.0.1, when was it announced that homebrew was coming to this version? Must of been very recent (Like last 3-4 days) as last time i checked it was still only for 3.0.0

Is someone able to provide a link to the article as i'd love to read about it?

hi, i'm trying to understand some things.

the webkit exploit used for pegaswitch works on 3.0 or lower due to the switch using an older, vulnerable webkit. the same vulnerability that gave us jailbreakme for iOS devices.
this was fixed in firmware 3.0.1?

if you have firmware below 2.1.0, you can use puyo puyo jpn game/demo manual link to use the online manual 'browser' (WebApplet). below 2.1.0 there was no captive wifi support.
if you have firmware 2.1.0-3.0.0 you can use the captive wifi authentication 'browser' (WifiWebAuthApplet). or you can also use the puyo puyo manual WebApplet.

so you can set up a proxy and set the switch to use it, and intercept switch network traffic, and reroute to a local web server.
then the hosted web server is able to execute the exploit. how the exploit works is a bit beyond me.

exploit aside, even with latest firmware you are able to use a browser and redirect with all methods: puyo puyo with proxy, wifi dns/wifi with captive wifi.

back to using the webkit exploit, you are able to execute arbitrary javascript on the client (switch)? only javascript? how are people running non js apps like retroarch and so on?

thanks ahead for any insights.

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

If you can find enough for it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.
