you know that you can go to the reswitched discord and get answers to your questions right?

Someone there told me to read the VVV FAQ and not to ask questions, yet that page had nothing on save files.

Figured GBAtemp would be more helpful.

Just logged back on and saw more replies and someone else (more helpful) said there shouldn't be an issue with CFW and existing saves though.

There is a savegame exploit but is private unless nintendo found it and patch it it wont be published

Understandable. But I have a good source that says it's real and working, and it is really coming.

These softmods from the ReSwitched team and hardmod from TX, both solutions can co-exist. Atleast initially. When the Switch firmware keeps getting updated though, the only working solution standing will be a hardmod and ultimately users will flock to that. I bet even ReSwitched might make a CFW for the TX hardmod.

Once we are on CFW, it's game over. The TX hardmod can ofcourse co-exist with the CFW, as it might be the only way for later firmwares to install CFW. Is TX working on their own CFW or are they just working on hijacking the system to code can be executed? If so, then the hardmod itself still requires input from other dev teams like reswitched.

TX is working to give us a hardware exploit that allegedly works on all current FW. Reswitched is using an exploit that's been publicly available for some time now and it's tied to 3.0.0 and below currently... Thus they've had more time to develop said homebrew launcher. Your logic is flawed.

My logic is as good as it can be, you're just a TX fanboy.

The softmod will work up to 3.0.2 (currently, maybe even 4.x). My point is reswitched actually gave us something we can use, while we have to trust TX's promises. I'd rather go for softmod solutions and keep my hardware as is.

I'm pretty cautious about using the hardmod alternative... because what if a software solution is better-supported, for example? What if TX eventually ditches their product and really stops supporting shit on it? If that makes sense?
They're not Gateway.

Nothing is certain yet. At first, the trustzone exploit worked for 1.x and 2.x only, then they figured it out for 3.x

If not the same, I am sure they will find another exploit for 4.x

4.x already is exploitable, just not as deep as 1.x to 3.x

They have been in the console modding business for years, so very highly unlikely they would do a golden runner, Usain Bolt style like what @Memoir pointed out regarding Gateway.

Cool stuff, sad my Switch had to update to 4.1 after switching SD cards. Kind of lame really, it said it needed the MicroSDXC update even though I had already gotten it on Day1 release, but I desperately needed more space than my 32GB was giving me.

there is some truth to this i think. i would go so far as to say it is already possible, but the exploit that they use for 4.x hasn't been fixed by nintendo yet. there are various ways to exploit the webkit version the switch uses. nintendo just needs to fix one of the 4.x exploits so that they can make it public. if they find more than one exploit for 4.x they might even burn the bug (give it to nintendo to fix on purpose) so that they might fix it faster.

but please people, stop updating for the sake of updating. 4.x is better than 5.x at least. (if you need to update for multiplayer, thats another story)

I was unaware of this. You sure you couldn't force format to fat32 like we did with the 3ds?

"Start".

Nintendo has been mitigating at every turn, often times very thoroughly. Notice how 4.x is already limited, 5.x is only going to get worse.

For the nth time: Nintendo's software has been rock solid almost at every turn, we've been exploiting nVidia's backdoors and memes... but Nintendo is fixing those too.

The Switch's code is regularly seeing internal audits and testing, they are on top of this and they're locking it down with increasing firmware.

Would it even matter at this point for people on 4.x? Granted if they can get kernel on it, wouldn't they be screwed with higher firmware since they cannot access cfw?

Always stay as low as you can, buy a 2nd switch if you want it all.

I understand that, but what I'm trying to ask is why should 4.x care if they cannot access cfw. They are going to be the most screwed fi I'm understanding correctly. Cannot update to latest firmware with cfw or update to latest ofw for new releases.
