OK, I definitely need to redo my lists, I see what you mean, thanks!

Also, where can I find the names for the cores? Meaning, I need to create my Atari - 7800 playlist, but I don't know which core it is I'm supposed to use? Is there a master list somewhere for a quick lookup? Thanks!
You can find the correct names here for the playlists files of each console:
https://github.com/libretro/libretro-thumbnails

Hope this helps!
Love your hacks btw, fellow hacker :P

Hmm, I'm not seeing the proper name for the core of the emulators? I was able to figure out which ones to write into the retroarch buddy program, from loking at my .rpx cores, but for Atari - 7800, nothing is standing out to me from those .rpx files as a (oh, hey there is the 7800 one!) is it hatari for 7800??

And thank you on my hack! Always nice to converse with a fellow hacker!

It's been awesome playing my Legend of Link & All-Stars NES on Nestopia! Works perfectly. :-)

The core list you mean?
I think it's this link:
https://wiki.libretro.com/index.php?title=Category:Libretro_Cores

Although I can't access that site from the Wii U browser, let me look for another one.

Ah, here @infidelity:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration

It's for Retropie, but the same applies.
Go to the list on the right, and it should tell you what cores are for that console :)

As example, this:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Game-Boy-Advance

It tells you what cores run GBA games from RetroArch's available cores.

Ah, excellent list thank you! (I'm assuiming 7800 playback isn't supported yet with the WiiU retroarch? I don't see prosystem)

Again thanks for all your help! Hopefully i'll get these games running from their playlists, ill try it out later today!

Also, I've seen screenshots from users, that have fancy backgrounds for each systems playlist, like if you are on 2600, the XMB looks to have a different background as a 2600 theme. I'm not sure if I have those backgrounds, or which directory I need to adjust, repoint to? Would you happen to know what I'm talking about? Thanks!

Afaik there are some not been added officially to the Wii U makefiles, which might explain that.
Also, for the backgrounds you mention, I have never seen nor set those up, but perhaps @ploggy might be able to help you there, if not maybe @Radius4 or @LibretroRetroArc could tell you how to set that up.

Thanks for the info!

So I've finally got the playlists displaying the boxarts, and I'm able to play the games from those playlists! This is pretty amazing stuff, having a blast with this!

Is there any chance of getting the box arts to display for the games within the "favorites" list?

So I'm on 1.6.0 and I'm having issues with running games from Playlists. The game are listed on each respective system library but if I try to run them it says "File could not be loaded from playlist".
If I run them through the directory, they play fine, but having libraries would make it a lot more easy to organize stuff. I think I added them through the scan directory directly from Retroarch itself and I have a corresponding core for each play list via settings.

Also, does 1.7.0 have anything worth upgrading to?

Pretty much everything, better menus, animated XMB, more stable.

To be honest, I'm not sure, only from the Playlists I know you can.
Although you could open up the Favorites file and see of you could add the boxarts there, copying the line from the Playlists to the Favorites one.

Try looking around the Retropie Wiki, perhaps it's explained there.
I'm not home atm to help out sadly :(

What files exactly do I need to replace to update?

Open the playlists lpl files and check the paths, they should be sd:/ and then the path with / and not \
Is there any way to change this without having to go manually game by game through the text editor?

@infidelity It's possible but its a bit slow..
Goto Settings>Directory and set the "Dynamic Backgrounds" directory to SD:/Retroarch/Media/Wallpapers/Posterized Consoles/1440x900 then choose "Use This Directory"
Goto Settings>User Interface>Appearance and turn on "Dynamic Background" Turn off "Menu Shader Pipeline"
Now back out to your Playlists and see if they show up :)
Not all Cores have a Background, so you may have to add your own to the SD:/Retroarch/Media/Wallpapers/Posterized Consoles/1440x900 folder ;)
(You can adjust the Background Opacity in the Appearance Settings)

Thanks! I'll try this out tonight!

I have another question. My playlists show controller icons for whichever system, and cartridge/disc icons for the games within those systems. Very cool! However I've noticed a few things and they are an eyesore to me.

My MAME2003 does not display an incorrect system icon, (shows DOOM instead) and it doesn't display icons for the games in its playlist, just a staticy looking box it loos like.

Could someone direct me to where these icons are within the retroarch directory so I can manually fix them? And where would I need to go, to obtain the correct icons for the system, and the systems games?

Thanks!

Sorry, "My MAME2003 does not display its correct system icon"
