I just got a SNES Classic (Target happened to have one after months of being empty handed!) and I'm in the process of hacking it, but I noticed that one of my patched ROMs just refuses to work? It's Mega Man X3 with the Zero Project 3.1 patch. Hakchi does not recognize it as a valid ROM. Has anyone else figured out a way to get it on there?

EDIT: I repatched it one more time and this time it actually worked!

Yeah, Canoe can be picky about certain ROMs, but many patches seem to work anyway :P

I have made i little shader hmod to replace the fake scanline effect retroarch uses by default.

1. Extract the rar file and install the hmod.
2. Deactivate the overlays in Retroach. Start any game with Retroarch and press Start+Select. Go to "Setting" --> "Onscreen Display" --> "Onscreen Overlays" --> set "Display Overlays" too off.
3. Go to "Quick Menu" in Retroarch then "Shaders" --> "Load Shader Preset" --> select the "zfast_crt_720p.glsp" preset --> "Apply Changes"

Now you should have a very nice crt looking effect that has more than just simply scanlines.

Careful - use of ANY shaders in Retroarch can cause significant slowdown in games unless you set the multiplier to 2 or lower. Dungeon Master is a great test for this - if you get stuttering music, you're pushing too far with shaders.

There's good reason why overlays are used.

I added the modded colorized version of Super Mario Land 2 to my NESC, but it fails to load on RetroArch/Gambatte. I used a verified good dump version of the ROM before modding it, so I don't think it's the ROM. This is supposed to work even on original hardware. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm loving the SNES Classic. I have a question about the controller, though. I don't recall the original controller being sort of wedge shaped. But it HAS been about 20 years since I've used an actual SNES and I probably just don't remember that well. I thought it was flatter...sort of like the NES dog bone controller.

I don't know about anywhere else, but in the US, it wasn't like the NES controller. It looks like the original one to me.

I'm not sure if I've asked this before or not, but how much space does the SNES classic have for games ? I don't have access to mine right now, but I'm going to be setting up my brother's SNES classic and would like to know how many games you can have so I can tell him. From what I remember, once I installed retroarch and all the games I have on it, I looked at the bottom of hakchi and it said, I think, 214mb of space. Is that correct ?

i dont get it.

i hate this format thing.
i try the file format ext2-4 and exfat and everytime no games are visible from the sd card and only the original 21 are visible.

fat32 works without problems but some games doesnt work anymore with the intern sd card mod.
ntfs works but has many errors.

the problem can not be the files because the are the same like the on the fat32 sd card.

Your best bet for ext4 is to use a bootable Linux USB stick and format from within Linux. If you're already using Linux, then I don't know what the issue could be. I've used partition programs before on Windows and sometimes they just don't work correctly. My opinion is that it's best to use the OS the format was created for than a program. Just my opinion.

The Super Mario Land 2 colorized version is a patch. You need to patch the original rom with a checksum of :
  • MD5: A8413347D5DF8C9D14F97F0330D67BCE
