My friend is on Luma 3ds version 7.04 will she be able to update her 3ds to the latest firmware without updating Luma since updating that version of Luma would require switching to b9s

You can use ntrboothax to get CFW (costs around $12 to $20 for a flashcart).

I don't know, i did the reset, i created a Nintendo ID, i think its fine. But i didn't think everything would be gone, like the Free eshop....

Resetting removes all user data, so all apps are gone except system default ones. Just install it again.

Hi , i have a knd of strange question, what is a retail cart ? (I never had noticed until now but i thought at first it was something of a game, then someone asked me ''i prefer that it comes from retail cart not cfw''

Yeah i am trying... but i am failing. Can't make homebrew launcher to appear. Can someone help here? Is there a way that i can put back the freeshop on the 3ds now? I dont know what to do, now i am regretting doing this...

Yup I was thinking that was my only option. They are in backorder right now so guess I'm going to have to wait or try to exchange this for another 3ds. Weird issue though. Hopefully it helps other people. Thanks for the help!

Follow https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup again then follow the mini guide for freeShop in the OP of this thread.

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of installing CFW to my 3DS using the 3ds.guide. I'm at the step where you have to update your 3DS to latest version, is it okay to skip this or am I being paranoid? Coz I'm thinking of using my Acekard to play NDS games in the near future and it only supports 4.3 or below...

A game cartridge you can buy in a shop.

With CFW all DS flashcarts should work. You can backup your NAND before updating and if you don't like anything then restore it. Things may not work properly on older firmware though.

For bans just follow the advice on the guide (turn off data sharing in Spotpass Settings). For bricks try to have a NAND backup but not necessary (you can always do a CTR transfer or run the Lazarus script, may cause you to lose data)

Yes but it is the only site endorsed by this site. You can visit the review forum to see if anyone has any problems with a particular site. If you buy elsewhere though you're taking a risk.

So I successfully installed CFW on my 3DS, but my Acekard2i (AKAIO) is not working, It shows a white screen.

EDIT: Just a faulty Acekard issue, have to reseat it as always

Put boot.3dsx from here: https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu/releases and boot.firm from the .7z archive here: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/latest to the root of your sd card and then do this:

Hello, I am following the main 3ds guide ( https://3ds.guide/ ) and im trying to install cfw on a 6.0E 3ds, already have boot9, luma, and godmode but when I have to use the download play app to launch homebrew launcher it just stays on the "Nintendo 3ds" logo while loading the application in a infinite loop, these are my files, got latest boot.3dsx and already checked everything is as it should be

I also have some black icons on the home menu, but to remove them I need fbi right? Thanks in advice

I think it's possible, but will cost a few hundred dollars. A much cheaper option is to install cfw and use NTR CFW to stream the picture.

@AbyssalMonkey the only reason you would want an EmuNand is if you region-changed it, or as brick protection if you didn't have NTRBoot or a Hardmod.

Yes, it is very much possible. Unfortunately, if you already own a n3DSXL, it will cost ~$250+two-way international shipping (to send it in and get it back). If you want to buy a n3DSXL with a capture card, it will probably cost in excess of $500. As Uumas said, it would be much easier to use NTR CFW, unless you want to take clean images of arm11 errors, payloads, etc.

Can anyone help me identify this title and how to remove it? It appeared after I installed clean titles from this page while I was trying to fix black screen. It was Home Menu JAP.cia and NS.cia that I installed. But it didn't fix black screen problem at all. CTRTransfer did fix it.

Trying to run it will just give me black screen. It also doesn't go away when I remove SD card. How do I remove it from the home screen? I have GodMode9 installed if it helps.
