Does that mean the last remaining issues with the USB mod are fonts and "special" characters (like parenthesis) in title names?
When it would be only Special Characters.
At my Game and folder title are also normal Characters missing

In preparation of getting the SNES classic for christmas, I'm trying to get all the info I can. I was watching a video about adding games to the SNES and it said that when you're adding games, a checksum error of some kind will come up. The video said to ignore it. I don't remember this with the NES classic.

Is it alright to ignore the error ? Does anyone know about this error ?
That only happens if you dump a modded kernel. And yes It was like that on nes classic as well.

I use the .bin file with no compression.

For the record, ntfs does work fine. It is just the least recommended format to use. If someone was running a cheapo flash drive, that was 64 Gb and up, the seek speed may be so crappy, that it would cause slowness and other glitches. I have a few other tests to get into, that may make increasing memory one can use more optimal, once using proper format. But, right now, I primarily use ntfs with everything, and on a cheapo 32gb flash drive:) To go higher in Gb, it would branch out in 2 ways, using better seek speed Flash Drives, or go the Hard Drive Method, with proper Format. Testing will better confirm this:)

I've been having some issues with the SNES mini - i've tried to add the Star Fox 2 rom and use retroarch to make it and all the games on the system full screen, but while testing them I seem to have crackling audio on both Star Fox and Star Fox 2... I've tried reinstalling modules and restoring the whole system to factory state but so far everything I try keeps giving me the same audio problems when playing the games using Retroarch.... Has anyone had the same issues or found a solution? Any help would be much appreciated as a full screen SNES experience would be great on all the games!

FX Games generally have issues like this. Your main options are to try to run them on SNES9X 2005, which is less accurate, but better for speed on FX Chip Driven Games, or try FX Overclock on SNES9x10 and SNES9x. There is a Canoe Boost FX Command Line, too...

-boost-fx 2

at end of command line.

I think i know whats wrong. If you add the cue in hakchi it will replace all spaces in the name of the cue in the CLV folder with an underscore character "_". You need to change the bin file and the name of the bin file inside the cue to the same name with the underscore characters.

Personally, I don't even use Cue+Bin Files. I run all CD Based Systems with SINGLE Files. I convert them, where applicable. But, if using Cue+Bin, you just have to do it in such a way, where you use simplified names, and add the Cue into Hakchi2, then copy the bin over into the installed Games Directory. But, single files, PS1, I use eboot. For Sega CD, I use CSO and CHD, Turbografx-CD, CHD, Sega Saturn and 3DO ISO, and so on.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Has someone tried CHD compressed PSX games? Will it work?

No Go on CHD for PSX, for now. It CAN be done, though.

Hey, so I tried doing the USB storage things. I've gotten to the point where the SNES games seem to run off the USB just fine, but anything that uses RetroArch just gives me a black screen that requires me to unplug the SNES to exit. Does this mean I messed something up with the hmod installations or what would someone suggest I try to fix?

Edit: Actually, of all things PS1 games seem to work fine. It's everything else that doesn't seem to work (Genesis, NES, GBA, etc.)

Which cores did you install? How does a typical start line look for you?

Hi all, just a short question. Is it possible to update/refresh all metadata (publisher, players, year) for my snes library?

When I add a snes rom as a sfc or smc zip-file then I get the right data. However, many of my 200+ Hakchi2 sfrom roms have correct artwork but not the right info. So it would be quite time consuming to redownload all roms and subsequently correct the artwork again.

Tnx!

nope!
there is a tool to convert PLaystation 1 games to the PS1 games image for the Playstation Portable with the name psx2psp.
after convert alle of the disc of the game are in a EBOOT.PBP file.
that file can be read from the playstation hmod.
these files are a bit smaller as a normal iso.

breath of fire 3
iso 457MB
eboot 158MB
thats only the eboot compression and no content delete

Can I get some info on how DOS games and C64 games are ran through retroarch? In terms of what the filename is supposed to be and how to actually launch them while in the emulator. I haven't used DOS since I was a kid and have never use a Commodore 64 in my life lol.

I asked about this before, but I guess nobody saw it. I know that with the NES classic, you could get an error that said something like...
Kernel dumped but the MD5 checksum is unknown: c2b57b550f35d64d1c6ce66f9b5180ce

The kernel is already patched or it's an unknown revision. Please send this message to me (press Ctrl+C). Continue at your own risk.

I know that it was safe to continue. Is it also safe to continue on the SNES classic, too ?

If you want to use a keyboard, you either use the virtual keyboard in retroarch as explained in the 1st post quote, or u plug an usb-keyboard into a spare usb port of your otg dongle.

@KMFDManic
One thing: When quitting retroarch out of vice, the whole console goes down and powers off, at least that´s how it appears to me,
That doesn´t happen when I close the content before quitting retroarch.

@Turnbl
Do you have any suggestion for a game or demo to test flipdisk? I don't want to play a whole day through something until I come to a point where I need to swap disks.
Also, there are many games available for floppy 1581. Then there is no need for several disk sides anymore. (Or one could load an easyflash version via file -> attach cartridge -> crt image - but I haven't tried that now).

Summer Games II - practice an event - Cycling - will prompt a disk change without having to play anything.

I had been getting to the same point too around images - a lot of .d81 images available so no swapping needed. However these only tend too have been done for 2 disk games, So IK+ I still need a 1541 drive. Any way to boot from a specific drive for a specific game in command line?

For what it's worth my Vice quits normally (from the start+select quit retroarch option) to the SNES menu. Think it was a late September build, haven't checked for any newer versions since.

Thanks. Have to practice cycling then. ;)
Yes, there are command lines, like disk8type 1541 or so, but I didn't manage to get them to work yet.
