Anyone know what this one might be XAW700048***** ? Also do the numbers after that matter? I can get one of 3 switches that all share that serial but the last 5 numbers I blurred are different, do I pick the lowest number or it doesn't matter?

Probably either 2.1.0 or 2.2.0. The numbers after XAW7 is a continuous number, so the lower the number the lower the preinstalled firmware. With that knowledge you can compare your serials to the already know serials and get the desired firmware.

It will probably be 2.1.0, based on the spreadsheet.

Yeah I noticed that in the op, was just trying to make sure I understood it properly before committing, will say what firmware it is exactly once I receive it.

For some reason the spreadsheat is not displaying properly for me, It just says serial in each row and the rest of the bar is grey without any info, Thanks anyway!

It was recently vandalized and hasn't been fixed by the creator. I created a new tab with the serial numbers where they belong.

There is a file history so the owner of the sheet could use the last version before it was destroyed...anyways without revoking the non logged in write rights this will happen again and again (the no vandalism tab got cleared already aswell)...stupid little internet rambos. Mostly it's someone who wasn't able to get a < 3.0.1 console.

Serial: XAW700056*****
Serial on device matches serial on box: Yes
Region: USA/CAN
Firmware: 3.0.0
Color option: Grey
Store: Used game store (it was sealed, New in Box)

Purchase date: 16.11.2017

Searched BestBuy, everything there was on 3.0.1 according to the Serial Database (I bought and returned, so I can confirm). EBgames had a serial range not listed in the database so I didn't even try. Got lucky on the last stop on the way home.
I'd recommend checking places that have slower stock turnover because they may have slightly older stock from the summer. Asking how old the stock is doesn't hurt. The basic grey version seems to be the least popular, so I'd check them first. Joycons can always be swapped out and become the 2P controller, so don't worry too much about that.

Silly question but is there any way to check firmware version without taking the protective plastic off the switch? I bought a switch in the correct serial number range I think (XAW700067) but I'm paranoid based on some of the comments here. I can turn the switch on through the plastic but it immediately wants me to put the Joycons on in order to proceed.

I was hoping there might be some sort of recovery boot option where I can see the Firmware version on screen without going through the initial setup.

Yes, you push and hold both volume keys while powering on, and keep holding them until the recovery menu loads. It will display the firmware version immediately, then you do nothing and just press the power button to power off (this also clears any pending updates).
I had to do this for one system and was able to return it without having touched the actual console tablet directly. I was concerned about accidentally scratching the screen, rendering it unreturnable.

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

and nvidia is already doing ARM

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image

but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
