Hacking Any hacks or mods to change saves to per-profile rather than shared?

Do we have the ability to modify or hack games to change how or where they save?

Some games, e.g. Yoshi's Woolly World, save into the "shared" or "common" area (not sure if that's the proper name) rather than each Wii U profile having its own saves. If you've got several people playing the game on the same console, this is a problem!

There is no such hack, all you can rely on is separate user profiles. Does the game at least have in-game files?
This is Nintendo we're talking about.

There are three save slots, but you see the same three save slots no matter which Wii U user profile you pick. It's not just this game, there are others too, but this is the first that came to mind.

I guess I could use a save manager homebrew (is there one?) to move saves around for different players, but I was hoping for something more automatic and kid friendly - e.g. somehow redirecting saves to a per-user folder.

You should use Saviine if you're gonna be switching saves from one profile to another

Data stored in Shared Save Data folders cannot be stored in a per-user folder, as the game expects to read the data from the shared folder.
In order to make a program read data from the shared folder, the game itself needs to be patched, which requires reverse-engineering the program and developing a method of patching Wii U binaries.

Thanks. So it would have to be a game-specific hack, and use something like SD Caffeine to supply a different binary? Is there no generic way to "hook into" system calls for filesystem IO and see when it's writing to a certain folder, to change it to write to a different folder instead?

Oh, yeah, that could also work. Actually, that's exactly how Saviine works.
