Hacking I found a reoccuring glitch!

I found this a few months ago, but I thought it only happened in one game.

I thought that it might be because SPP is compatible with the Rumble pack, but no other Rumble pack game responds like that.

Does anybody have any ideas as to why this happens?

I have a resolution for this problem!!! only use the writer when writing to the cart! Problem solved

This is quite a common problem, some people call it lightning. I didn't know it still exists in new firmwares.

you're using a piece of equipment in a way other than its intended use... who cares that it causes some issues use it correctly it wont happen.. if YOU don't have enough intelligence to figure that out then I feel for you... really I do! The writer is just that.. it is not intended to be kept in the gba slot during normal operation, unless someone here has reversed engineered the writer I find it unlikely that an answer will be found here. Perhaps if this ever so important issue was raised with the manufacturers they may be able to advise you.. Perhaps that advice would be "use it correctly" The popping from the speakers can't be good for your DS!

not really but as you said it doesn't matter which flash cart then it seems that it is the writer that is the cause, but I have a powder blue DS and none of the n card clones come in that colour so I take it out as soon as I'm finished... have you tried with the lite sized writer... I would for you but I don't want to damage my DS

Actually the writer can also be used along with the slot-1 cart to convert the NDS into a USB joypad or touchpad (so yeah, it can operate while slot-1 is being used). I don't think I'd try removing it whilst using ds mouse or pad though.

@deathfisaro: Lightning? Common to N-cards? Or just slot-2 devices? More info please!

I've had this problem multiple times with different games on my N-card, such as FFIII and Magnetica, and I think it happened on Puzzle League once. I had always figured it was my DS- it's old, beat up, and from right around launch time, and it has some cracks in the touch screen. Good to know it wasn't my DS' fault, thanks for the tip.

ive had this issue with my SCDS1
any combination of settings doesnt fix it
it only happens when i play advance warse ds

I found this out just after I got my SC CF a long long time ago

If you start a ds game with a slot 2 flashcard without having an original game in the slot 1 it will do exactly what you described when you close the lid.
It's because when the ds goes into sleepmode it's supposed to keep slot 1 powered. But it can't as there is no game in there. After a few more processes this triggers the console to power up again.
But the lid is closed so it shuts down again... but it can't power slot one so it starts up again.... and so on.
If this happens with a slot one device it is not functioning like a normal game when the ds goes into sleep mode. It probably acts a bit different cause it's communicating with the gba slot which does get shut down except for the sram.

I can tell you one thing however, It makes you consoles voltage fluctuate like crazy. That's not good for the thing. It'll wear down the electronic components. Don't play with it too much.

And please don't insert and remove cards from your ds while it's on. It's the same thing. The PSU is getting smacked by spikes if you do that. I saw it even crashed your ds once. Probably cause it couldn't keep a high enough voltage while the writer was powering up.
