With the reviews on gbatemp being out of date and all the constant firmware updates, even though I looked, I find it hard to determine what features this card actually has. With my current 512 mb cart I find myself out of space a lot, so I was thinking of getting the 2 gb version of this card since it's so cheap.

Does it have...
full rom compatibility? (recent arm fix problems? zelda ds?)
dldi auto-update?
full download play compatibility?
fast menus?
boot slot-2 carts like g6 lite?

And two more specific questions:
Does it save the savedata to cartridge after reboot or does it save it on the fly?
Exactly how long does it take to write a 1 gbit rom to the cartridge?

And lastly, comparing it to the r4, what's it missing feature wise?

Thanks for the answers, guys.

I own both! I will compare the two.

The has Full rom compatibility. Even better than the R4 at this point. You will never need to fix the arm. With the R4, you will have to wait for an FW upgrade to fix worms. With the Ncard, all the roms work.

Yes, it had DLDI auto patching. Its the same as the R4.

Full download play. The R4 is better in this respect. The R4 has 100% download play support. The Ncard has a beta FW that improves DP support, but it is not perfect. R4-100% Ncard- 85%

The Ncard boots games as fast as the R4.
From the Time I push the power button on the DS to the time I boot wario: Ncard:14 secs. R4:16 Secs.
Games take longer to load on the R4, but it can get to the main menu faster than the R4. The ncard takes longer to get to the menu, but games load faster.

The R4 has a built in NoPass. The Ncard can use any nopass rom to boot a slot 2.

Both write saves to the memory on the fly. There is no out side of the game saving time.

The R4s menu is cleaner and it has cheats, but I like the Ncard much better.

Thank you for your elaborate answer.

Okay, so download play is a little less compatible but close and there is no cheat support.

Could you tell me which download play roms do not work? I guess since I'm gonna be owning two cartridges, download play is a little less important, but I'd still like to know if possible. Namely New Super Mario Bros and the new worms game.

One question you forgot to answer: Exactly how long does it take to write a 1 gbit rom to the cartridge? Any number on writing times will be fine, so I can derive how long it takes.

I know that NSMB DP works.
I will test worms.
A one Gb game takes about 30-60 secs to wrte. Smaller games take about 15 secs.

Homebrew computability is fair, most games work but some even though there is the auto DLDI on it dont work. Id say N-Card is about 80% with homebrew.

All "backups" i have tested work perfectly and load very fast.
Writing Times are average 30-60 secs for 64 mb, 20-30 secs for 32 mb and 10-15 secs for 16mb
