I believe all Android phones use /dev/mmcblkx instead of /dev/sdx as well, but since they use a microSD slot you would need an SD to microSD adapter (they do exist).By the way, some builtin sd card reader should work as long as they're real SD card readers. Just insert any sd card, if the device name is /dev/mmcblk? not /dev/sd?, you're good to go.
By the way I have an Orange Pi, which unfortunately has a microSD slot
