Hey people

My sister has had a DS Lite from years ago that she doesn't use and I'm going on a few holidays this year (long flights) and will be borrowing her DS Lite for the plane journey

Obviously I want to run DS / GBA games. Not really too fused on SNES and Sega Mega drive as I had emulators for these on my PSP and bit bored of them.

I already have a 64gb Mirco SD Card

Just want to know really what flashcard I should get ? What works best for the DS Lite and runs well ?

Thanks in advance

Hi mate I know it has been asked before but each thread gives different answers. I know what I want from the flashcard which I have stated. Was hoping someone would just recommend me one for my needs. As I'm sure loads of users here have a couple of different ones

Honestly, the best for a DS Lite is a Supercard DStwo+ with an EZ Flash 3in1 for gaming and a classical R4 (2go) for debug when it's necessary.

There are two classes of flash cart.

Basic.

Enhanced.

For the most part the enhanced market is only the Supercard DStwo. Its main claims to fame, beyond working easier with unmodded the DSi and 3ds, is the processor it has in there which allows it to more readily play SNES and GBA* games. Naturally it has a top flight loader and compatibility. Main downsides are price (£50-60 vs the £10-20 of the others) and it gobbles a bit more power (readily observable but not enough to really matter, especially if you have one of those nice USB charge devices or can expect a USB port where you might be at).

Normal/basic is everything else. Most things you will find today will play essentially every game, do cheats and may even have extra features like in game guides, real time save and cheat selection (the dstwo or course has some of the best of all the extra features we saw).
Some of the things, including from makers of top GBA era and one time leaders in the DS field sort of stopped updating before the end of the DS releases and there are no real public fix databases -- for most this was around the time the DSi and 3ds block lists got real (so mid 2012 which in turn means some might not do pokemon black and white 2 and not a lot else, numbers around 6100 if you have a numbered release list you look at http://www.advanscene.com/ ). If you are going to want to play each and every game (as opposed to just doing damage to nearly everything with thousands of choices to pick from) then something supported by the wood firmware (a not open source but made available for a few carts) is a good bet. Some of the basic carts are more cheaply made and less reliable than others but if it is mainly for a few flights for something you might lose then check what you are about to buy for any howlers but eh really.

*if you are on a DS lite you can always buy a GBA flash cart or GBA expansion pack and probably beat the emulator onboard the DStwo in many ways, certainly compatibility and accuracy.

If you are looking for a good value I would recommend a DSTT.
http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=157
It supports every ds game I have thrown at it (I've never tried Pokémon black/white 2, but even if they don't work there are Anti piracy patches), and it is likely* to support NTR boot(3ds exploit). (Near) universal ds he support and universal (barring cart specific homebrew) ds home brew support, all for $9.99, makes this cart, IMHO, the best deal you can get.

*the nand chips on these carts vary somewhat from cart to cart, but usually support NTR boot
