It happens usually when you use a menu injection function.

EG, Slow motion, soft reset, cheat.

And then sometimes by itself for some other games

I went back to 2.2 ... don't like the purple screen...plus as much as I like 2.3s menu its pretty much pointless so yup for now Im at 2.2
I'd prefer to go back to 2.2 also but presumably there are bug fixes in 2.3 which I would not want to be without (is there a release note anywhere?). Can't the G6 team address these silly issues? And I don't understand how they could release 2 different "2.3" versions? That's a basic management issue.

Well since now the 2.3 is on the main site I have installed that one. I do not think they would add that there if it was pointless. Also about the purple screen. I am getting that screen too on 2.3 but I was getting it too when I was loaded rom 1330 - Rune factory. I am guessing I was getting the screen cause its very new game. Well it doesn;t bother me at all. Its not like it pops up all the time.

It happens on practically all the games I load, doesn't really bother me compared to other bugs the G6R has.

What other bugs are you referring to exactly?

Well they might be part of the way it is programmed, but I would still refer to them as bugs.

1. Soft reset doesn't work with various games and/or breaks download play (I think this is the case with Taiko no Tatsujin (which doesn't load at all with soft reset) and Mario Kart)

2. No default sorting in the menu - it seems files are automatically sorted by the time they are put onto the G6. Funnily enough, Meteos is at the top of my list, despite adding it in alphabetical order.

3. Homebrew bugs - self-explanatory - homebrew on the G6R really sucks. That's a fact. The G6R also has trouble switching from slot 1 to slot 2 in homebrew (eg. 3in1 Tool/GBALdr/NDStation adds a flashing border when there isn't meant to be a border)

4. Some skin problems - the 6 menu icons in the main menu aren't switched (if you get what I mean), instead they are layered on top of each other, which means if you have icons of different sizes with transparency set, the buttons will bleed through.

There are more, but I don't really remember them right now. And of course there is the purple skin.

5. The menu touch screen controls sucks

6. You can't start a homebrew that isn't in the root of the card

7. the time and date isn't showed in the game menu but only in the main menu (2.3)

ecc. ecc.

If you just want it on the Game menu, you can place a copy in the root, and one in the NDS folder.
It's worked for everything I use. But it's a waste-of-space workaround and needs fixed.

Ah! That explains why I could run homebrew from the Game menu initially... but after cleaning the extra files (in the root menu) off my G6 Real card the homebrew stopped working from the game menu. Great tip, although I'm not sure it's one that I will use.

A few open questions... Does anyone know if:
(1) future firmware updates include improvements for the Media-Extend DS interface? For example, getting rid of that odd magenta-colored screen that appears or possibly adding features to the (already excellent) book reader?
(2) there are any plans to extend the functionality of PdaDS? PdaDS can't compare to DSOrganize, but expanding the PdaDS functionality just a little bit would make it more useful.
(3) there is a manual or FAQ talking about how to use Media-Extend features? For example, changing fonts or just basic user interface descriptions. The "trial and error" approach has worked out ok, but took a lot longer to get everything working than I wanted.
