I’m trying to protect my unbanned N3DS from being banned - it’s been hacked since 10.2 and touch wood hasn’t had a ban yet. The only game I play online is Mario Kart which luckily enough was preloaded on the console I bought so that shouldn’t pose a problem.

My normal routine for using homebrew is to turn the network off, run whatever, then clear play history with Cthulhu, run Mario Kart again for a bit then turn the network back on again, is that the best way to prevent a ban these days?

Also is there any way I can stil safely use Freeshop because if I launch it with the network turned on, won’t the usage get sent to Nintendo?

As far as I was told, using homebrew channel version of Freeshop is safer to use. I forgot the extension, i think its 3dsx?
Not sure though

Cheers, yeah I can see why that would be, but I think they would probably ban if they knew there was any homebrew at all running and not just freeshop? :/

just by installing a cfw of any kind nintendo may ban you, no one knows for sure what reasons people get banned,

the smart thing to do is...... do not play games before release, do not cheat in online games, do not use hacked pokemon etc

do the recommended stuff, and turn spotpass off, disable sending statistics, and behave

if you want the chance not to be banned to be 100%, do not hack the 3ds and use legit software only

Been gone for a while, what's this about being banned by using freeshop?
Stop. Forget what you've heard. It's not freeShop getting people banned, at least not alone.

Here's the lowdown, a few months back banwaves started hitting people, most, if not all of them had CFW. We don't know what Nintendo targeted in order to find out who was running CFW. We don't know what is safe to run or do online with our consoles.

Basically follow this advice:

Yeah I’m aware it’s not freeshop itself getting people banned, but some suspect that running homebrew in general is one of the things they’re monitoring (and freeshop is my only homebrew I need a network connection for). Thanks for the advice guys I’ll give that a whirl tomorrow!

I've been using CIA Homebrew, Freeshop, and a LOT of online games, still waiting for the ban. You just gotta be careful to not send information about It and keeping legality (is the word spelled right?) to its MAX.

You are not going to get banned for using freeShop. You are not going to get banned for having CAIs installed. You are not going to get banned for pirated games (unless US/UM get leaked.) Stop letting paranoia and misinformation scare you
We may not know what got people banned, but we do know what didn’t cause the band. Plus being banned isn’t a big deal and takes 5 minutes to revert

This is not entirely true. IIRC, people report their non homebrew 3DS being banned due to street pass access/ connect to same network as hacked one. So to add to your previous statement, live where you don't have a stranger hacker walk bypassing.

Ah so just the aftermath of the banwave? Good to know the situation hasn't changed too much.

There are 0 confirmed reports of people with vanilla systems being banned. It's more than likely CFW users claiming they're vanilla for sympathy or a quick fix after being banned. Same thing happened after SuMo leaked.... Suddenly half the people banned bought their cartridges legit from mom and pop shops that broke street date

for people that are very paranoid and is really keen on not getting banned.
Isnt it a better option to buy a cart instead? Nevertheless buy the games?
im just saying, there wont be any system reconfigurations.
People getting games worth more then they ever would buy and still whines when every function don't work.(thinking about online play in particular.)

I might be wrong but id guess its safer playing with a cart hen cfw?, atleast for the really cautious one. Getting banned is a risk youre willing to take if you modify your console.

Ive used mine for a year now, using fbi, freeshop etc as usual, didnt get banned before either.
Im mostly up to date with every app etc.

Wasnt there a method out which could unban your console? or does my memory haunt me today? :)
