I've been thinking about it this whole day and I've come to the conclusion that I cannot mod an xbox 360 or even burn a game (laptop's burner doesn't even work atm). And anyways I WANT to be able to use the Live service without any worry.

So it's either buying only a handful of games and a 360 with the probability of the red ring of death OR
A Wii that has been modded that will let me play only a handful of decent games.

360 has apparently been fixed and I'm pretty sure you get a 3 year warranty on it.

Depends what you like..Do you want good online features?

Wii has Smash Bros, Mario and Metroid. Oh and mario cart next year.

Xbox360 has Bioshock, Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Rock band, Mass Effect (awesome RPG) COD4 (with awesome multiplayer), Project Gotham, Turok , portal, team fortress 2, Half-Life 2,ep1,ep2 etc.

Not all these games are out yet but most will be by the end of the year. Most people here will suggest the Wii because it's a nintendo based forum. Having both consoles would be ideal but IMO I haven't been interested in many games on Wii until the 3 games come out at Christmas. 360 could keep me entertained for years.

BTW: I have a Wii. No xbox360 yet but hopefully very soon.

Oh and almost forgot. If you have a very good pc chances are you'll get to play a few of those 360 games anyway.

I have both systems and if you want true mulitplayer live is the shit, xbox wins there. but the wii is fun as hell to play and the games are cheap since its single layer dvds. 360 can be modded and live will still work you just have to make sure you dont burn game that are patched. there both great systems im a die hard nintendo fan and for less money youll have a blast with the wii but the xbox 360 is fun as hell. gears of war is the shit fun as fuck to play but you need live, live makes the xbox experiane alot better. get both FUCK playstation

Heh.

I've been leaning on the xbox 360 because exactly because of that
cubin' listed at least 5 games I WILL buy, either because their going to be awesome or their going to be awesome with online play.

The Wii only has cheap-ness on it's pro list.

Anymore opinions/testimonials?

I have had both and i love both as well but i voted for the 360. The wii is great fun and i enjoy it but my 360 gets more play due to live and the amount of great all around games. You should really get both eventually, but i think the 360 will keep your attention longer just due to the great multi player. So if you are gona get live soo get a 360. If not well maybe still get a 360 but consider a wii then.

Yep, go the 360 if you got the money. I have both 360 and Wii. My Wii only gets played maybe once a week with a few friends. I never play any single player games on it (that will change with mario, prime etc). But the 360 gets played everyday. The only problem is there are sooooo many good games on it, it's hard to choose. however most games you can buy online for about $60 AU, especially if they are region free, so its not too bad. 360 smashes Wii for online, i haven't even played my wii online yet, so if you like multiplayer def get a 360.

i never used to like the halo series, but now the hype of Halo 3 has grown on me and i can't wait for it to come out. The multiplayer is gonna be sweet, specially LAN with my friends.

So yeah, if you got the money, the 360 is much better value. Just get a wii later on when you get some more money and chip it, there will actually be decent games out in 6 months or so.

Yeah, I definitely plan on getting the Live service (even though gaming online should be free..). It's 50 dollars, so I guess thats not that bad for one year.

Question: I won't be able to connect a system directly to my router. What are some solutions to connect wirelessly (but cheaply) to my router?

And I still would like more input too:)

edit-Thug4L1f3, is your 360 modded in anyway? And if so, do you use Live normally or do you have to take some precaution (and what are they)?

I would say that get wii just because i don't like 360.
But actually wii is pretty lame too, only couple of good games and i doubt that there ever will be anymore than few good ones. (mostly nintendo's stuff and maybe someone who suprises us?) :A
So don't get anything and save your money?

360, I also own both but recently, the 360 just has that umph that keeps me coming back...is it the graphics? Live Marketplace? or also that Easy pick up and Play feel...Though loading times suck =/

Theres a wireless adapter available for 360 though I hear they are quite pricey (around £70).
My 360 is modified with xtreme 5.1d (dvd drive firmware hack) and I can still use live just fine. Afaik as long as you burn your games properly you won't get banned from live. Theres a newer fw out called ixtreme which is supposed to be undetectable, but still I know people with older fw version than me and they still use live just fine. The best thing to do is to not go online when a dash update is due or a big game like Halo3 comes out, just give it a day or two and see if theres any reports of mass bannings. Last time it was when the Halo3 beta came out, alot of people got banned but they were not all hacked firmwares, alot of 'honest' gamers got screwed too lol

I dont have a 360 myself, but my best friend has had it since it first came out, i think he's on his 3rd or 4th one, he has an elite version and a premium version, my friend is a loser, thats why he has both of them. He had one of his 360s banned, so he got another one, he can still use his live account, it was the 360 itself that got banned. But thats because my friend had a really old firmware. Now i think its almost impossible to get banned if you have the latest hacked firmware.

I played the Wii for the 1st time last week, and before playing the Wii i would say get a 360. But I really like the Wii, its because of the kid in me, im 35, and the Wii reminds me of the good old days of the NES/SNES, when games were fun for the whole family and with your friends as well. My daughter, she's 11, loves the Wii, she's hoping to get it for xmas since we are borrowing a friends Wii, what she doesnt know if we already got her a Wii for xmas, so its going to be an awesome xmas for her. But if your only playing by yourself, or online, then I would say get the 360, also if you have a HD tv, the 360 would be a better choice as well.

DONT go wireless, its a waste of time and money wired is the way to go. You will lag on wirless and you dont want that on xbox live, wired is cheaper and more efficient. un less your xbox is no where near the router other then that your good to go and you also need a router wired or wireless thats xbox live compatible. click here to see which will work http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connectt...g/equipment.htm if its the wii your getting it dosnt matter its sucks either way you go you wont notice a diffrence.

you can get pretty long network cables for cheap if you go to the right place. Just use one of them, you can run it outside your house if you have to. I've had one out in the sun and weather for 3 years and it still works perfectly fine.

but yeah wireless just aint worth it for the 360..so expensive.

Well, I got my xbox 360 a few days ago. Haven't been online in a while;).
I bought Bioshock with it, and so far it's getting better (Didn't fall for the hype, but so many damn review sites said it was a great game).
