Define pc gaming? I have a laptop with game on it, I mean steam games not emulators (even though I have it too) But I prefer console games.
I means specs are important on pc but not console. People buy console to play games, the games they have are exclusive to each system and then some are available for all of them, as long as they all do the same thing on every console, it wouldn't matter much. The problem comes with the higher spec consoles, we expect games being made to take advantage of them, PS4 pro supposed to have 4K games and HDR and better load times, faster framerates than below 30FPS and such. Most games on there don't even have ps4 pro enhanced, that they had to go back and update the old games to do that. Every new game still works on the old ps4. Is not like New 3ds where they have exclusive games like Xenoblade chronicles 3D, Fire emblem warriors or even the snes classics. If they keep not making exclusive games, it doesn't give people much reason to upgrade, people will most likely still buy the cheaper product cause is cheaper and does just about the same stuff.
Basically when I buy a game console, I want games, yes is nice when games take full advantage of the hardware that they so openly exposed and talked about all the time, but then how disappointed are people when they see a game like mega man 9 & 10 on ps3 xbox and wii? Or Shovel knight? The game is sprite based 2D game, is fun, that is what make people play the game, it has to be fun and entertaining, even the simplest of artistic styles in games are good looking otherwise people wouldn't still make it.
Then when people try make a 3D game with polygons and stuff and it looks so bad is like they went back a decade to 4 past generations, that is a big blow to the system's library of games. I never cared about specs for consoles, is a game console meant to do one thing only, even though it does other stuff. But a pc isn't designed the same way, is one system meant to play like games from the past 20 years and with better programming requires better hardware capable of getting more out of it. As long as my game runs in HD, and 60FPS and looks good, Is fine to me. I still have a 720P TV that is over 10 years old. I know higher definition looks better, just that looks aren't everything, but it helps the appeal, performance also is important.
