I have a Wii U on 5.5.1, and I have a retail Smash Bros for Wii U disc. I try to load Mario Kart 8 using Smash Bros mode, but after I try to load it, it tries to update my Wii U. I don't want to update to 5.5.2 and loose homebrew capability.

What can I do?
I also would like to know if the game is going to do a system up. From what I know it's probably just a game update especially since I never updated the game to get the dlc for the wiiu. I just need this confirmed before I also do an update. My wiiu is also on 5.5.1. In my case the game trying to updates is smash bros.

I ended up updating to 5.5.2 via the Smash Bros disc, and luckily, there is an exploit for 5.5.2, but it isn't as stable as 5.5.1, so I will have to do Haxchi/CFW at some point, but I don't want to have to scrap my large Loadiine game collection...

there's a way to convert those games to installable format. the app is on temp, but I don't recall its name. you should be able to google it though.

With the release of a semi-stable 5.5.2 exploit, will a 5.5.2 update come out soon? I've been able to get Homebrew working pretty reliably on 5.5.2 (12/14 successful attempts) although BotW in Smash Bros. Mode just crashes on a black screen and disconnects HDMI output and Mii Maker Mode softlocks on a white screen after "...Open your eyes...". You can still switch the view to TV from Gamepad and vice versa but nothing progresses from there. When you hit the Home button an icon in the top left says you can't hit that button.

A fix to this would be awesome, thanks.
I'm using a version of v0.3.

Before I buy an separate sd card for my wiiu, I want to know if it's possible to play wiiu games with loadiine using an hard drive, I'm only asking because I recall can't recall how long ago someone done it but I can't recall if an sd card was really still needed, all I remember is it was still going to have the same compatibility as if an sd card was still being used.
Another thing I want to know is if the 1.0 mod have better compatibility. I noticed their was a 1.0 mod in the homebrew launcher app store but the starter pack download didn't include it, so I figured there probably isn't much of a difference but I could be wrong.

Why would you do that? You can install games directly to the HDD with WUP INSTALLER.

The thing is I really don't want to format my hard drive since all I already have basically bought whatever wiiu game which wasn't much, so it would be a waste to format a whole hard drive for the wiiu. At the moment I'm using my 3ds sd card but I rather keep that for the 3ds. I really just want to have the few games I have on the wiiu to be backed up in one spot. Right now at the moment my wiiu is being used for emulators.

What? You don't need to format anything. You need to use SD cards, USBs won't work. Again, you don't need to format ANYTHING, and I don't know where people keep coming up with that...

You can store Wii U games AND other random files you want both on the same SD.

Is there a version that can be installable to Wii U USB instead on Homebrew Launcher on SD card? I want to have Loadiine on home menu.

I don't know if this has already been posted but there's a new version out.. https://github.com/dimok789/loadiine_gx2/releases

Code:
- Make it compatible with devkitpro r29
- Improved logging
- Using broadcast logging
- updated the travis script to load devkitpro r29
- Updated the dynamic libs
- Updated the controller patcher
- Fixed the crash when in many .ini files in the sd: / wiiu / controller folder
- Fixed a bug in the memory.c
- Fixed a possible bug when leaving the application
- Added settings to enable / disable the Rumble / Network for HID Controllers
- Improved the Touchscreen handling
- Improved the font rendering

It's good to know that Loadiine is still being developed :)

But does it have DLC loading?
That's the REAL question.

Gawd knows. Only reason I saw it was updated was I read about it on Logic Sunrise [emoji14]

Isnt there an unofficial version that supports DLC?
Yardape's version.
But that's the thing, there was some sort of drama regarding DLC loading because it would be illegal or something, I "believe" there was a pull request made to include DLC on the official release, but I don't know if it happened or if it got rejected due to that.

Here's Yardape's repo:
https://github.com/Yardape8000/loadiine_gx2

Perhaps watching the changes from the latest Loadiine and trying to add them to the unofficial to have DLC support would do as well.

Tbh if it wasnt added to official before due to drama I cant see them adding it in now?

This works just fine, except for one thing, the only build I can get to boot up is 2ae7fe4 and the most recent one, but when I try to boot up paper mario color splash it gives me error code 150-3034, I downloaded a Loadiine version of it, but no matter what I do I can’t seem to get it to work
