Hey guys,

Ready to do a mass upload onto the mini snes. I dont want to use any addon emulators like retro arch, just keeping it simple.

Would you be able to have a quick look through my game list and confirm if my patching information is correct and if I have missed any games which would need a patch:

Aladdin
Alien vs Predator - graphic glitches, no fixes available (e.g. converting pal one to ntsc wont make a difference I take it lorom to ntsc) and no fixes in progress - if accurate I won't add this one.
Batman Returns
Battletoads
Blackthorne
Bubsy
Clayfighter
Demons Crest
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Doom
Dracula X
Earthworth Jim
Final Fight
Gradius III
Killer Instinct
Lion King
Metal Warriors
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate
NBA Jam Tournament Edition
NBA Run and Gun
Parodius - This is a PAL only release by the looks. Can i use patch here to make it ntsc to work? https://evilgames.eu/snes-pal-to-ntsc.html (lorom to ntsc ips fille)
Pilotwings
R Type III
Rock n Roll Racing - From previous posts, this game has glitches. One member suggested using patch from here https://evilgames.eu/snes-pal-to-ntsc.html to convert a PAL one to NTSC and has no glitches - is this accurate? lorom to ntsc ips?
Sim City
Stunt Race FX
Street Fighter II World Warrior
Sunset Riders
Super Bomberman
Super Street Fighter II - latest hakchi auto-fixes some header problem and this now works, correct?
Super Double Dragon
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
The Adventures of Batman and Robin
Toy Story
UN Squadron
X-men: Mutant Apocolypse

Any confirmation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

While I don’t know about the other games, you should load the Japanese version of Super Double Dragon instead if you can. (Return of Double Dragon) several tweaks were made since the US release and it’s altogether a better game for it.

Has anyone had any luck running Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes or Chrono Trigger: Flames of Eternity on Canoe? Both go to a black screen for the title and music plays but nothing beyond that. I was hoping to get either (or both) loaded stock, without retroarch.

Both expand the ROMs to 6 MB or 48 megabits, Canoe doesn't support them unfortunately. RetroArch is your best bet.

So I tried messing with fba core from retroarch again on SNES mini and it seems remapping buttons for any game will glitch "A-button" to unusable status. :(. Can we not remap in fba?

Am I the only one annoyed by the fact that Contra III stands out from the rest being in all-caps and missing a colon? Seriously Nintendo, it takes like 5 seconds to fix that. It's even on the box like that. NES Classic was largely inconsistent in the titles - some all-caps, some with copyright marks.

I'm removing the stock ROM and re-adding it with a corrected title.

I feel the same way with Final Fantasy VI's translation, why were all the names in CAPS? Like TERRA, SABIN, so I'm using the uncensored version which has a good translation.

Edit: Speaking of Contra, there's a good hack called Alien Wars Restoration, restores the 30 lives trick among other fixes. Gonna hide the stock version and replace it with this one.

There are a few games on the SNESC that benefit from some hacks. Contra III, Super Ghouls n Ghosts (restores coffin crosses, fixes slowdown), Castlevania IV (censorship), FF3 (everything).

Yup, already inserting the uncensored and better-translated ROMs, even Breath of Fire 2 retranslated works :P

Hi thank you yes i have this link already. Thats how I found out alien vs predator wasn't working :( I just noticed a couple of posts in here which weren't in the document e.g. rock n roll racing was suggested in here to run as a patched pal rom, whereas the google document doesnt mention this at all. Just curious if thats a wide known fix for people and whether anyone tried that idea on alien vs predator :)

thank you

I have managed to mess something up... I can't figure out how to fix it. I started hacking my SNES Classic Edition on the new hakchi 2.2 RC4. Later, I updated to 2.20 (specifically 2.0.20.10 portable). Between these two versions, I had added about 60 games split among 3 folders, and everything was working just great--I could play all the games I had added with no problems.

Then, I decided to update to the current latest version 2.21b (specifically 2.0.21.32 portable). However, I also changed several other things before I uploaded the changes to my system. When I power on the system, the original games work great, but when I select one of my 3 folders to go to the games I added, I get a C8 error... Power cycling the system brings up the same error... Syncing hakchi again makes it work... until I try to select a folder containing added games, then C8 error again... Here is a list of everything I changed since the last time I updated my system with hakchi 2.20. Maybe someone here can figure out what the culprit is:

1. Updated to hakchi 2.21b (2.0.21.32 portable). I flashed the new custom Kernel, as the new program required. I did get 1 error message about the checksum not matching, which I assume is normal when upgrading from an old custom Kernel to a new one. The new Kernel seemed to upload successfully.
2. Added "-fp 0" to global command line arguments (supposedly removes the epilepsy filters from all games).
3. Added a couple more games, and updated a couple with .ips patches that I discovered. (All games I have on the system are reported to be working with Canoe).
4. Manually edited the desktop files' "SaveCount=x" entry for the games that have save files (RC4 had set every game to 0 regardless of save status). All I changed was the existing 0 into a 1, 2, 3, or 4 depending on how many saves each game has.
5. Changed "-rollback-snapshot-period" argument to 3600 for RPG type games.

I have never installed ANY User Mods or RetroArch to my SNES Classic. I am also well within the limits of storage space. I have about 100MB free on my system. I have less than 30 items inside each folder. I tried undoing several of the changes I made, included flashing the old 2.20 Kernel and reinstalling using that version. I also tried changing my folder layouts. I still encounter C8 errors whenever the system tries to open a folder containing any games that are not part of the original 21. The original 21 games work just fine, even with the custom Kernel installed.

Currently, I have uninstalled hakchi from my system using version 2.21b and flashed the original Kernel back. My system is working just fine with the original Kernel. I have not seen anyone else having any problems since hakchi was updated to the current version, so I assume my problems are something I did wrong.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix my problem so I can run other games again? I am hoping that if I install hakchi 2.21b fresh and go through the process of adding my game roms to hakchi all over again and re-add the box art, release date info, etc., it will fix the issue. However, that would take a good bit of time, and I'd rather not go through it if it's not going to solve anything...

Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Have you tried flashing with 2.20 again after loading the original kernel? I’m going to assume yes and, it still didn’t work.

I saw a post on reddit somewhat similar to your issue. To fix it, the guy paid attention to the red/green light in the lower left corner of hakchi as it’s flashing your software. Once hakchi is done flashing, click “done” and wait for that light to turn green before powering off and disconnecting your SNES. The folders should work after that. At least I hope so. Good luck!

Ok i but some games on my SNEs Mini most of them work but some wouldn't work.

Don´t Work:
-Actraiser 2 PAl version with NTSC Patch
-Bahamut Lagoon with German Translation Patch
-Final Fantasy V with German Translation Patch

But the US version or the Japanese version with English Translation patch work without problems

-Soulblazer German version with NTSC Patch
-Illusion of Gaia/Time German version with NTSC Pacth
-Terranigma German Version with NTSC Patch

and some games have weird Resolution Glitch the games are not correct in the Border of the SNEs Mini

Super Probotector with NTSC Patch
Front Mission with German Translation Patch

I hope in the Hakchi Final everything is playable with the Mini

Better forget the german Front Mission patch. The patch screws up the ending sequence...

For Bahamut Lagoon and Final Fantasy V:

There are 2 possibilities!
1. Cluster is screwing up something with the conversion of EXHiROM Roms to the SFRom format. No EXHiROM game works so far (e.g. Tales of Phantasia).
2. Canoe doesn't support EXHiROM games at all.

So what could be done?
1. Cluster could take another look into his conversion
2. You could ask snes-projects.de if they'd "fix" their translation patches. They did come up with that EXHiROM stuff as some kind of a "copy protection". It's pretty weird. BL and FFV (and some other patches wouldn't need to be EXHiROM at all).

Someone should write a decent windows 7/10 snestool to edit headers/convert format/convert ntsc<->pal and vica versa/ etc...

[EDIT]
I know there's SFC/SNES Rom Utility, but it has less options then snestool
(Yes, most don't need all the extra, but i still use a copier :) on my snes)
