How to install Retrix (Retroarch/Libretro port) for Xbox One

Prerequisite - Requires Dev mode to be activated so you can sideloadd apps. If you don't already have it you can find more information here. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-activate-dev-mode-your-xbox-one-console

Retrix(LibretroRT) is a massive project aimed at porting all libretro cores to UWP. It currently supports Nes,Snes,Sega Master System,Sega Game gear, Sega CD, sg 1000, Playstation, Gameboy, Gameboy advance, and many more to be ported soon. This guide will cover installing Retrix for your xbox one console.

[1.] Download ProjectPgeasus (If you already have ProjectPegasus this step doesn't apply)
https://github.com/wiired24/ProjectPegasus/raw/master/ProjectPegasusSetup.exe

[2.] Once Installed just open it up and select RetriX. Now just wait for it to download. All you have to do now is Sideload Retrix on to your Xbox One (If you don't know how, follow the full guide here https://github.com/wiired24/ProjectPegasus/blob/master/binaries/Installing APPX Packages.pdf )

[3.] Enjoy! :yayone:

Retrix brings with it support for local 2 player something we have not had until now. It also opens the floodgates to every single emulator that is currently inside the scope of the libretro project. You can see a full list here https://github.com/libretro

I had been sitting on releasing Retrix for quite a bit now but it has finally reached a point where it is stable enough for release. Credit goes to Albertofustonini for creating and maintaining the Retrix Project. Credit also goes to @kingtut for advocating for a Libretro/Retroarch port for Xbox One. You can follow current development on the official github page https://github.com/Aftnet/LibretroRT

great stuff here! :)

If it can use all of the libretro stuff, how can I add dolphin core to retrix? Or does it not work?

will be getting an xbx1x at launch, question i have is that does this take advantage of the xbx1 hardware or is it just a generic pc port.

does it also allow you to run the games at full screen rather than boxed.

I will get Xbox Box One X aswell alongside with Surface Phone when Microsoft finishes it's development, at the moment Xbox One/S, OS is limited due some Microsoft restriction, but this soon will change after Microsoft release Windows 10 Fall Creators update.

One of the main changes of the change-log for Xbox One X will be more access for .appx apps and games to use more power.

For more info check this one:

Regarding you question if the games runs boxed or full screen I am not sure about it since I don't own and Xbox One yet. On my PC runs boxed with no option to scale to 16.9, so I guess the same applies for Xbox. On Windows 10 Mobile I still don't know because my phone despite having Windows 10 Creators update is not powerful enough to run RetriX.

Well the XB1 has x86 PC hardware inside it. Nothing to really optimize other than porting to UWP.

I'm literally on the Dev Portal as we speak and I got Project Pegasus, but here's the problem: the computer that I'm using is unable to load PC programs. Is there a more direct way to get the PC files?

I'm assuming you're running either Linux or Macos?

If so for Linux open the terminal and type sudo-apt-get install mono-complete

For Mac you can download Mono directly here
http://www.mono-project.com/docs/getting-started/install/mac/

Once Mono is installed ProjectPegasus will work :)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Speaking of ProjectPegasus I just updated it to include the latest version of Retrix which i believe is now at 1.8.6

Thanks. Now one more question: when I'm trying to install an application and it's dependencies, how long should the 'installation progress' take?

For installing an application to the Xbox One it just depends on the size of the application but generally anywhere from a few seconds to half a minute

Having trouble finding bios for the PS1 emu. Don't know where to find scph5501, and when I try to import scph5502 it tells me it's not what it's looking for. Anyone able to solve this?

Wonder whats going to happen with that update, performance wise on current emulators and what that may bring to the table for future emulators.

Whats the current state of the emulators? Just tried snes on super mario world and seemed pretty good.

Hows more of the snes library, gb/gbc/psx/n64/psp?
