is here any progress or has this project died? Especially there is now switch :-( If it has stopped, is there anywhere a release of the actual state (so only a few new worlds)?

It's a skawo project. Of course it does. The main focus is probably still on Newer DS, though. Don't expect this to release for a couple of years.
