Found this hope it helps

Allright. There is a way around this "double your News and Weather Channel" stuff. Ive done this on TWO Wiis, both with the latest 3.0 firmware (including the little one that came some days after the big 3.0 that fixed som internet channel issues) and both are modded with CycloWiiz. This is step by step how I did it on TWO Wiis (PAL ofc, BOTH got no duplicate channels!!!):

1. Ofcourse download the game.
2. Extract the ISO-files with WinRAR.
3. Make TWO NEW FOLDERS.
4. Copy the original ISO and paste one into EACH of the new folders you have created.
5. Run ONE of the copyed ISOs (leave the original alone...!) with Brick Blocker.
6. Run the OTHER copyed ISO in Region Frii (convert FROM USA to PAL!) (dont know if runing it through Region Frii is necessary, but I did it...)
7. Now burn TWO discs. ONE with the ISO that was "BrickBlocked" and the second disc with the one that was "Region Friid" (keep order of which disc is Brick Blocked and which is Friid...!).
8. Now you have two copies of Metroid Prime 3, right?
9. Try to insert the BRICK BLOCKED game. Black screen. No problem.
10. Insert the Region Friid game. It will now say "Initiating Wii System Update" and you can press "OK". Press OK, then on the next message press "I accept".
11. NOW! Let the update run for SOME SECONDS. Let perhaps 10-15% of the bar get blue, then UNPLUG your wii console!!!!!!
12. Insert the power again, turn on your Wii. You do NOT have double channels now.
13. Insert the game that you Brick Blocked (the one that used to give you a black screen...). Let it load, and BOOM; it works. Now you have a working Metroid Prime game and a non-doubled Wii

THANKS SETEM

you mean this cheat with the two disk works on Pal and no double channels show up?

Within 45 mins i will try this on a PAL 3.0E with Wiikey.

If it works and NO duplicate channels, i'll report back here guys to confirm it for wiikey and cyclowiz users.

Can those 2 people who have tried NEHS method and it works, please take 5 minutes away from Metroid Prime 3, and go check if their internet/shop/news/weather channels work, and test if other games work no probs.

nice nehs, souds like theres a high risk of damage though, suddenly removing power from the wii especially during a firmware update sounds mighty dangerous and could result in permanant damagae, good for you though that it worked and i hope it does for others also, but i personaly wont try it.

what i did want to ask was this:

Has anyone tried deleting these 2 channels from their system BEFORE running the game with the update, and then it cant duplicate them and you can just add them back after the game has initialized? Seems very simple to me, although probably to simple to be true.

Hi guys - first post !

I've tried Setem/Nehs' method and it seems to be working ok with my Wiikey'd PAL Wii. No duplicate channels. Also, the Weather channel works, so does the Internet channel, shopping channel and news channel. Super Paper Mario works, so does Metroid Prime 3 (ofcourse!) and Mario Strikers Charged (including Nintendo's WiFi Connect)

.

Only detail is, I needed to disable and re-enable the Stand-by Internet connection of the Wii for the weather and news channel to work. After doing that no further action was required. Apart from that, everything seems to be working all right (at least in my case.. < insert standard disclaimer here>

Thank you Setem & Nehs !

Confirmed, works without a problem at all.

Have tried all channels, 2 games other than prime 3 including strikers online, and no duplicate channels at all.

Big thanks for finding this:)

Is anyone else noticing any issues INGAME?

I'm seeing some weird graphics bugs. Like the selection in menus is not where the pointer is and when I press minus some annoying shape and sound shows up and won't go away until I morph into a ball. And now most recently I can't seem to get out of the room where you wake up one month after firing that big cannon. I complete the PED test and I just can't shoot anymore. And since I can't shoot I can't open the door to get out and I have to reset my console. Tried 3 times now.

I have a PAL machine with 3.0E and modded with WiiFree 2.45.

Am I just stupid/paranoid/unlucky or is this a PAL issue? Sorry if I posted this in the wrong topic.

Just change the settings of your wii to run in PAL 60Hz(480i) mode if your tv set can handle it.

I found out the same method last night, in a little bit of a different circumstance.

I'd stuck in the clean-burnt disk, update started running, about a third of the way through, it craps out saying 'The Wii update failed.' And then it shut down (I think I was holding the power button on the Wiimote, that may or may not have caused it). Every time I tried the game from then on it would do the same thing, half update, fail, reboot. I was pissed that something was going wrong, so as a last resort I tried WiiBrickBlocker for the hell of it, and tada, it booted and played.
The channels work fine, although the Weather channel now just shows some intro text when I'm zoomed in on it in the channel menu like it hasn't been used. Never changes (although it may do that normally, I haven't checked it in a while)

So if you want, you can try holding the power button on the Wiimote instead of cutting the power, altough I'm unsure whether it'll work. The principle is the same though.

do you even have a wii? these are system channels they CANNOT be deleted.

Yep, i have a wii alright mate, although i havent played it for atleast 6 months or so, just not into any of the games thus far, nothing with depth except Zelda.... and Metroid Prime which is why i was following peoples experiences as i do want to play it, but i think i'll wait for a PAL release, i'm not that desperate.

Again though, good on you guys for getting it to work

Seems that the update 10-15% then break have started to be reported to work from different people all over.

This points more and more to that a updated WiiBrickBlocker will never work. What may work is the following. When Nintendo decides to release the next version i.e. 3.01U/E/J or later the system update on MP3:C will be obsolete and it wont update BUT it will still write check file saving that a update check has been made.

Point: MP3:C checks every time you load the game if an update has been performed. If not it expect to run the update and leave some kind of trace on the Wii for the next time you load the game so it don't need to check again.

When the game update is broken, using the update break method, the check file is written to the wii at the first part of the update (bad programming in my mind) and because the check files is needed and when using a WiiBrickBlocked copy of MP3:C it will ignore the update because the trace of a previous update can be found.

Don't know if I'm making any since and ofc this is just pure speculation.

I performed the update on the disc on my freshly updated 3.0E UK Wii (resulting in the duplicate channels, which doesn't bother me) and the game refuses to play either with or without the patch being removed (and I changed the header to Pal with RegionFrii).

The rest of my backed up games work fine. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it working???

I've passed that point, and haven't come across that problem.

Wondering what settings you got on for visuals?

Thanks! Worked like a charm! Now I even got the game running in fullscreen

..

I got passed it somehow before I changed to 60Hz. It was like the girls speech was out of sync and interfered with the test. So I just skipped entering hypermode and pressed A until she let me go. And since I at that point hadn't finished the test I could shoot to open the door. After that I entered hypermode and shot down that sphere from outside the room. Very weird

Is it possible the sync of the game might be differnt when in 50Hz?

After i "research" on some forum , i realized that this MP3:C won't update wii firmware to 3.0.
Because of after using MP3:C to update from 2.2J(bbs.a9vg.com), 2.2E(this forum) or 2.2U(demonoid forum) then their wii firmware still showing the version (2.2) after updated. So it means this MP3:C no have update files which can update ur wii to latest firmware version.
From case of "Duplicate channels appear after update from MP3:C" and "update 10-15% then break --->is work ", i think this MP3:C is bundled with some file (not related to firmware update) which must install to wii before playing the game.

I believe that this Metroid Prime 3 wont brick any wii.

I tried the 10%-15% method yesterday, and was pmed to check if everything stil works:

Zelda ( original ) still works
Super Paper Mario (NTSC) still works

Virtual console games still work

Weather channel, news, internet, shop all work

I've tried mario strikers (original) online and no problems here.

Looks like it's pretty safe to do, even though it doesn't sound like it.
