It's working by heavily patching SI, the Gamecube controllers interface, that is being emulated in Nintendont, as far as I know.

Yes, you can't use GC controllers with them. I have DDR Hottest Party 2 and the mat. It works only on the real Wii.

By reading this reddit, it seems that they are able to get it work on mario kart, but it is possible to port it to other games. However, they currently seem not to have plans to release the source code or a patch to work with other games. Lets cross fingers and hope they can do it. This is the only thing that stops me from dropping the Wii from my set up.

yes, now i'm having both wii and wii u setup. problem is the need to resync between consoles
