To celebrate the release of Sonic Mania, GBAtemp is giving away 2 copies of the game on your platform of choice as a digital code.

The rules are quite simple, we will be selecting 1 random viewer of the stream as a winner, and alternatively another copy will be available via this thread if you can't watch the stream. All you have to do is post in this thread and let us know what is your favourite Sonic level (from any Sonic game) and why (a sentence or two minimum). The 2nd winner will be randomly selected from the thread in 48 hours from the time of this post.

Good luck to all those who enter!

Flying Battery Zone from Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Why? Music. Love it. Just perfect. I can listen to it the whole day (but there are other acts with nice music too like Green Hill or Chemical Plant Zone)

We will announce the winner of the Twitch stream in approx 20 hours and the winner of the thread in approx 44 hours from now (you have the same amount of time left to enter) :)

Thanks to everyone that joined me on the stream.
you did so bad in that "catch the emerald zones"
;O;
and i am angry that you didn't care about the rings or make perfects in the sonic and knuckles special stages

the game is awesome btw... but i can't stop thinking.. we are in 2017 and sega all it does is a rom hack for the games from 20 years ago
but then nintendo is not doing better anyway...

It's not that I ~can't~ watch the stream, but rather that I want to experience the game without any spoilers. :P I'm actually looking forward to it, and want to go into it like back when I was a kid. Random screenshots, no videos, no real information. XD
This!! The popularity of the whole livestream/twitch craze just fukkin baffles me... I also miss the old days of magazines and a handful of screenshots to go by sometimes, and for big games (in my view) I deliberately avoid as much of the game as I can before I get a copy, and enjoyed the games that much more! (I'm doing just that with Mario Odyssey, and this..)
Anyway, not picked it up yet (pre-ordering is another recent thing I hate) as I'm busy until the weekend, so I'll add my fave: Tough choice actually! Was gonna go for nostalgia and pick maybe Marble Zone off the first game (I enjoyed the stopping and starting after the blitzing through Green Hill, and also enjoyed that music) but I'm a sucker for ice themes, and really enjoyed the snowboarding section, so it's Ice Cap Zone off Sonic 3 for me! Decent enough challenge, great music, and a big change from the carnival zone before it ;)

Wow, so much memories. And the one level who brings back more than any other is Green Hill zone, I was like 5 years old and used to play Sonic the hedgehog on the Sega Genesis my brother used to own. Never went past it, but the time spent with my brother while playing was on of my treasures and so my favorite level.

This is a tough one.

While Sonic Adventure 2 is the 3D Sonic I least like I will have to admit that I love the awesome, downtown - City Escape.

In Sonic Generations' SEGA included a beautiful remake of the stage in 2D and 3D forms, though even then, I would just rather play the unaltered Dreamcast version which for its sake, there was absolutely nothing wrong in this department as the Sonic Team made sure everything worked as it should. It's such a nostalgic, addictive and with a really pumping song you just can't say no to.

The truck following Sonic really added a lot of tension and excitement. Heck, if SEGA released "Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape" for the Switch I would buy that 'cause that's pretty much the sole reason I'd ever play SA2 again. :P

Here's hoping that Sonic Forces will have a remake or of sorts of the City Escape stage too, because, why not! :)

Dreamcast Ver.

Generations Ver.

By the way, the reason I originally got into Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't because it's "just another Sonic game" but City Escape really popped out as quite unique (yeah, I know, it's like a *good* clone of the Pepsi Man).

My favorite is Casino Night Zone (Act 1). My dad had shown me this Zone as it was his favorite also. I enjoyed the slots the most, they were a simple yet fun gimmick.

My fav zone is hydrocity zone, from Sonic 3&Knuckles. This is the finest example of a water level done right. This is a water level that doesn't take from you the speed. Additionaly, act 2 hypes me up with the escaping section at the start of the act.
Also those machines where you stand and run in place and then released with full speed are AWESOME

Nope. Programmed from the ground up by gentleman who used to make Sonic fangames, and SEGA took a chance to let them program a true sequel to Sonic 3, which they got insanely right, because they're fans that made it for fans.

Ice cap zone from Sonic 3 is my fave. I have always loved ice levels, and the music is some of the best. Plus the fact that the music can be overlayed on top of Hard Times by the Jetzons is just fantastic!

Chemical plant zone also from sonic 2, because awesome music. Also, grape juice, never figured what is was supposed to be and that's how we called it back in the days.

I'm coming into the stream right now.
My favorite Sonic level would have to be City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 for multiple reasons, the first being that the BGM is just SO GOOD! The second being that the level was so fun to play and it gets better every time I play it.

City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2
Mostly because RUNNING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND
But also because I like the way the skateboarding (?) down the road in the city controls, and I was always very excited about that stage

City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 because of the music :rofl2:.

My favorite stage? Easy! That's City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) ;)
Why? "Rolling around at the speed of sound, Got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow."

My favourite level is obviously City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 because: Awesome Sound Track + Being chased by a Giant Truck? Everyone loves that xD

My favorite level is City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. The music is really good, you get to ride on a board down a hill, ride on rails, and get chased by a truc.

+1 on City Escape. definitely a rush!

Hurray! City Escape for the win. :)

Alright, I'm game! It's a bit hard to say because there are quite a few levels I really like (Starlight Carnival from Colors because of the vibrancy, Casino Park from Heroes because it was so much fun when I played it back then, City Escape from Adventure 2 because you can flipping snowboard(?) through the streets with music that you just wanna sing with too), but I think I've gotta pick Rooftop Run from Unleashed. The colors and the atmosphere was really great, the music was so upbeat and fun (and the tracks on Generations for this level were even better to listen to), and it was just a well-made stage that I'd run with so many times for the heck of it.

I love Hill Top Zone from Sonic 2, mainly because i like de song, i love it, and second because it's like a green hill zone with lava, from Sonic 1 Starlight Zone, i love the music also. I'm more fan of old Sonic games, since my first console was sega genesis (model 1) and came with Sonic 1.

My favorite level has to be Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2. The music alone is good enough, but something about the aesthetics (the background especially) just makes me love it even more. Its only drawback is that it's one of the early levels in the game so it's pretty easy, but I think it makes up for it since it has a very fast pace even for a sonic game, and that is the spirit of the franchise after all.

Mine would be from one of the more obscure games, Rusty Ruin Act 1 from Sonic 3D Blast
I invested more time in this game and sonic spinball (hardest sonic game ever imo) then alot of people, granted the game had it flaws but the music of this level was still pretty great, we really got to see the true capabilities of the limited genesis audio chip with it. I guess whats sad is that so many people never advanced past the first zone to play and hear it.
