Your easiest options all include you using a game cartridge to update to a specific software version, so I suggest you get ahold of one. Here are all of your options from easiest to hardest:

Yes, today! :)
See my post above for all of your available options. You can use this website to find a game with the desired software version (preferably 4.X or 6.X): http://www.3dsdb.com/

Option #1 (the 4.X or 6.X MSET option), in addition to being the easiest option, is also your cheapest option. Get ahold of the game with the desired update, update, and then buy a cheap DS flashcart for less than $10.

The DS flashcart needs to be compatible with 3DS system versions 4.X or 6.X. What kind of flashcart is it?

A game would be cheaper than a SKY3DS.

Can post a pic later, but I was using it on a non flashed new 3ds xl with 11.4.
Sky3DS price is high but can come handy, will try both ways see how it goes.
Thank you for your rapid and excellent help!

If it works on an OFW 11.4 3DS, then it will certainly work on a 4.X or 6.X OFW 3DS.

The SKY3DS is genuinely useless if you have CFW, so I don't recommend it. I don't know what your options are in the area you live in, but online, you can get a used 3DS game with the 4.X or 6.X system update for $10 or less.

Instructions
  1. Boot your device into recovery mode by holding (L) + (R) + (A) + (UP) while powering on
  2. If prompted, decline the update
  3. Reboot your device
  4. Put the game in your device if it is not already
  5. Attempt to launch the game
  6. Update when prompted
