Luma is simple and clean too. It also has extra features, doesn't need extra files, and has rosalina which has a lot of potential even if it doesn't have too much now.
c'mon could anyone except me now tell him that he is annoying and WE ALL GOT YOUR OPINION MAN I'm really getting pissed @AuroraWright also said that she don't care what people use, and If I want to dual boot reinand to have the nostalgic feeling of 1st time "hacking" something and luma to have an easy way to shut the console down, then I'll do so and you and your crappy statements can fuck off.

I know, I check certain repos daily, but some people seem to forget that luma would not exist without reinand
NOTHING would exist without Gateway, but that doesn't stop 99% of the people here from bashing it. GW was first. PERIOD.

and Reinand being the first CFW? bwahahahaha you guys are f'ing stupid.

The fact that reiNAND did exist WITHOUT the need of a Gateway Card makes me feel legit about what I am saying.

That's what makes Reinand so unique, at it's release time ot was the first customized firmware (thx @SciresM , I'll use that term from now on) which had a splash screen at boot, which is Reisyukaku's Avatar
i see.... but if luma is a fork of reinand, and its better cause it has a bunch of cool stuff that must modern cfw's have why use reinand if luma is kinda just a better version

Because some people likes to keep it simple, and minimalistic. Luma is a pretty good CFW too, but some people don't like it because of "too much patches" but as Aurora said, some patches can be disabled.

I don't care what people use but "Luma is bloated" or "Luma is made to restrict users"

As is the "just use Luma" comments. But that's the community, not you.

I just think that simplicity is more important than allowing one to toggle everything even when there's no advantage in doing that.

As much as I appreciate simplicity, I enjoy tinkering. Guess that's just our difference. I like being able to "remove" additions I barely use. I guess options need to exist.

I value giving a choice only if there's actually a purpose in doing so (I mentioned a few examples above).

What if the purpose is because, "I wanna, so I am!" :P. Joking aside, reasonable answer. I agree. However there are the few wild exceptions. One was posted much earlier in the thread. I feel this is all up to the devs and their views.

Luma isn't a fork anymore as the codebase was completely rewritten, also once again, there is no advantage in Luma, If I use Reinand for regular playing, corbenik for debugging, and luma just to check what time it is, then there is no advantage.

You heard him guys, layeredfs, rosalina, etc. are not advantages. Just switch back to rxtools, none of that stuff matters.

And this is the fundimental question behind the CFW wars. It's mostly personal preference.

not to be rude, but why use an out dated firmware doesnt make seance also isnt cobenik outdated and shit?

hmm. Not sure but actually LayeredFS is a HUGE advantage for ROMHacking. If you like to tinker with your games, you go combo LayeredFS + cheating with NTR and you have the perfect game xD

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
