So does fix94 cbhc/sys cfw system version 99.99.99 also block the update? My wiiu is completely offline, But remember him saying maybe it's enough to block it.

Just wondering...

So...My WiiU WAS updated to 5.5.2... too bad for me I guess... But what are the Primary and Secondary DNS that I need to put so it blocks the updates?

For those having trouble applying Haxchi from 5.5.1 after buying a suitable VC title due to
'System Update' forever blocking it the top of the download queue, try this...

The only time mine suddenly worked and allowed my bought VC title to download has been
after the following accidentally happened:

1. Attempted to load the HBL from browserhax
2. Failed with an error, due to the SD Card not being in! :)
3. Had to force a reset of the WiiU (holding the WiiU power button in for 4+ seconds).
4. Restarted WiiU - VC title was immediately free to start downloading!

I can't tell you whether it's to do with the failure and forced restart, the forced restart alone, or whether it's all
purely coincidence (I'm not prepared to go back and find out now that Haxchi is finally installed and working!).

All I know is that I tried everything listed on these threads and my VC title was only free to download after
this happened. So if you're still stuck and don't want to move onto higher-risk workarounds, it might be worth
looking into.

Good luck!
[Note: EU Wii U with 5.5.1E]

Thanks for that reply - appreciate it. Trying your program would have been my next 'fingers-crossed' option if this
fluke hadn't have happened!

Went back from my game and all of a sudden it said the update was ready.

But wait, how did people end up updating?
I mean, the Wii U told me an update was ready as a popup and could only press 'OK'.

I turned off my Wii U and applied the DNS's said on the loadiine website. Seems to work, I'm still on 5.5.1 unless the Wii U is somehow installing the new update in the background?
Unless people did hit OK on their controller by accident or just without thinking.

The only thing that needs fixing is that you're be able to use the Homebrew Launcher without the Wii U GamePad.
Holding 'A' on HaxChi on the Pro Controller didn't work, so I'm stuck with my GamePad on a wire LOL.

It worked for me.
I had disable dns but still failed to download the update.
The only problem that i have now is that since i hadnt installed Zelda's Dlc, now after install it via wup installer mod y it says that i need to update the wii u even if cbhc 1.6 spoofs the firmware to 99.99.99

So annoyed.

Earlier this week, I was working my way through the Noob Guide to Hacking on this site and had configured the DNS block fine.
In one of the next steps though it says almost straight away to disable the block to install the Entry Point. I had then also realised that I needed a 64GB SDcard to do a Sysnand backup, so got a little interrupted by that.
During the couple of days time the sd-card took to arrive I realised today that I'd been upgraded to 5.5.2. :-(
I did think it was odd for the instructions to say to disable the block but thought that it must be OK ...

WiiU consoles are now available for £99.99 and reducing furthermore so even if Nintendo ever fully blocks a hack, I suppose you could just an additional one.

Thanks - I've just ordered a fair condition refurb from Game for £99 - the last one I'd rate as VGC. Let's hope they haven't just plugged it in!

But I did discover that my current one has an issue with updates for the Youtube app i.e. it can't update the app (error 105-4206) and so prompts to delete the app. But Mario Kart 8 just updated OK. I do have the DNS blocking still enabled though just in case (using the servers at http://loadiine.ovh/gate.php) . Disclaimer - I'm not familiar with the WiU, having only modded the Wii before, so may be missing something obvious. I just wanted to make sure my DNS blocking is working properly before I get my next console! ;-) So is this expected behavour? I'd expected the DNS block to stop all updates.

Can I update? I just installed haxchi and from the replies I am getting mixed reactions. Does it work with 5.5.2?
Yeah it seems that haxchi works just fine in 5.5.2 but I would recommend just to block updates and stay on 5.5.1 if you need an game update or something use nnupatcher or wup installer :P

What if I want to play games online? Smash 4 says I need to update software to play it.

Use nnupatcher while blocking updates , then start smash Wii u , the nnupatcher will let you download the game update while blocking updates
