I have mocha and haxchi installed thru the ds game but didn't bother with cbhc, I use the mocha icon to load instead of coldbooting right into it. I gather from all posted so far that if you don't care about or need the browser entrypoint to load stuff, a la loadiine, the update is safe, is that correct?

What about dlc under cfw, is that still working? I heard some speculation that was broken.

Why would they lie. The presence of that string doesn't mean it's come to pass yet.

waiting for someone to make a ctr-httpwn like program so we can access eShop without updating (like the 3DS) and buy a DS game

NNU Patcher is what you're looking for. Spoof to 5.5.2 using @iAqua 's guide then use NNU patcher

But it will be, that's why the text was updated.
I think it's likely they'll do it by 2018 to focus on the Switch's infrastructure.
