Hello,

I have noticed that Ace Attorney Dual Destinies UNDUB is incomplete. The cutscenes are UNDUB but the “objection” in game voices are still in English. I can't find if there's a new one completed or if is not possible to change these in game voices. In any case, I would like to complete the UNDUB.

I have undubbed one Layton game for DS with DS Lazy but it was so easy changing some file and repacking. Can anyone help me to complete this UNDUB?

Thanks!

Hello, I'd like to answer one question. The "Objection!" files are separated from the bgm and cutscene audio, as in they're in a different format.

Cutscenes and BGM = .mca (And there are Dasding's tools for that)
Objection!, Hold it!, Take that! = .mad (And I don't know if there are any tools for a good conversion)

There can't be no subtitles on the cutscenes (subtitles have only been implemented in Spirit of Justice), but you can replace the mca files so that they do speak japanese

Some time has passed since this thread was last active but I wanted to ask here instead of making a new thread. Where did you find the Objection!, Hold it!, Take that! files? Can't find them anywhere and Google doesn't tell me anything. Also dumb question, but why would you need to convert the .mad files?

The exclamation files are in an .arc, an encrypted archive that can be extracted from the game's files.

I need to convert .mad files for a translation of Dual Destinies.

Do you perhaps know which ones have them? If this is really true, then I might just be able to make a full Japanese undub of this game.

Also, do you know what other things are inside the .arc files or are the .mad files the only thing in them?

EDIT: I think I might have found the ones for Apollo, Athena and Wright but I can't find any of the Prosecutor ones, do you know where they are? Just to make sure though, the 3 main character voices are in the "snd_script_eng.arc" file, right?

EDIT2: So I rebuilt everything but then it ended up with the audio files during those lines didn't play at all, man changing .arc files is difficult. What did you use to extract and rebuild? I was using a mix of things because some that I found worked and some didn't.

Answer 1: The sound files have both .mca and .mad files (but I'll have to check)
Answer 2: .arc basically have all of the game's files (textures, models, animations properties and audios)

Answer Edit 1: That's exactly where the .mad files were
Answer Edit 2: I used these to un/repack the game's files https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-decrypt-extract-rebuild-3ds-cia-cxi-files.383055/
For the .mad files I used Dasding's tools and what happened is what you described

When I unpacked an .arc file, the files inside were coded as number extensions, also no matter how much I searched through the .arc files in the 'archive' folder, I was unable to find anything named under the prosecutor names, even in their Japanese names. For example, 'kokone_igiari' is Athena's "Objection" but stuff like 'yugami_igiari' which is Simon Blackquill's "Objection", I was unable to find at all and I know I made sure to look through all the .arc files except for 'chr' and 'BG' ones which I heard were just models and backgrounds.

Oh sorry, I meant how were you able to unpack the .arc files to modify them?

Are you sure you didn't find any other .mad files checking ALL of the .arc files?

I honestly don't remember which unpacker I used, but I certainly suggest you decrypted the rom and then use ctrtool or packhack

Are they hidden in a folder than makes it not obvious to the eye? I mainly checked the folders that contained any sound folders inside.

Oh don't worry about that stuff, I've had that stuff on my computer for a long time and I use it quite often with remaking roms of mine, just what I'm scared about is that maybe these .arc files aren't compatible with the ones in Dual Destinies. I've been using an unpacker that was built for Resident Evil and repacking with something completely different because one doesn't work to unpack and the other doesn't repack.

You should try those for Monster Hunter, the one released by the community here. Keep an eye on Dasding's posts, too.

I remember trying to use it, but it failed for me at the time. I'll try again when I have some spare time.

Do you know if any sound files are inside the 'chr.arc' or 'BG.arc' files? I know they're somewhere because I found this link on Reddit where someone was able to get out every file from the iOS version and they even had them converted to .aac files and even uploaded them for download..

I can try checking right now because I might as well test the MH unpacker, just a small issue. I've opened the '2_extract_arcfs.bat' file but only 1 file was extracted from the romfs folder, am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Was finally able to read what happened to the files, it's calling the files "Unsupported Version 16" so it's coming up with an error. Welp, that didn't work out.

EDIT2: Found all the voice files, the main character ones are inside that script arc I mentioned earlier and the prosecutor ones are in the "charXXX.arc" files with the number representing the respective character, just it seems copying and pasting the files here won't work that easily as the voice files no longer play if you do that so I guess that's as far as I can go. Dunno what the issue is but maybe someone might find this information and make a full undub some day.

Good news, dasding just updated his tool so that it works with .mad files, so yeah, you can undub the exclamations too now. The revision should be rev07

UPDATE: I found out that if you use arcUnpack.py and arcRepack.py it extracts some files incorrectly. Case in point, those .mad files were actually .mca files with some missing strings of code. In order to avoid any errors, you should use this suite: Kuriimu

You can use Karameru to extract the .arc files (it also batch extracts, it's amazing) and just replace the english audios with japanese audios, probably without any need to convert anything at all

Latest build:
https://github.com/IcySon55/Kuriimu/releases/download/v1.0.13/kuriimu-v1.0.13-5c8e72b.rar

@Pol74698: I tried Karameru like you suggested but it doesn't work. When I save the moddified file, it gets broken.
Is there another way to extract those .arc files?

I also tried that monster hunter tool from dasding but I get a "error unsupported version: 16" message, just like @WinterStar.
