When I try to open the .bin file in Ohana3DS Rebirth, I get an exception error: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream.
Same thing with 072.
Ohana3ds Rebirth is still incredibly buggy for the time being Ex:A .obj file is not an object (Model) at least according to Ohana Even though I just exported the file and imported it

What's wrong with 067 in 1/9/6? :L
067.bin - Youngster
072.bin - Swimmer (male)
Like Joshua said, it's a problem with Ohana Rebirth. If you unpack it with pk3DS, the model inside (0.bin) loads fine, so I'm guessing it's a problem with animations. Also, you can find the location of those GARCs in pk3DS (Options-About GARCs).

Does anyone know which version of Ohana I have to use to replace the trainer sprites in a/0/8/7? OhanaGotTextures doesn't work for me. I already managed to do that in the past (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/zxs2drlm9e8n8it/0091.bin?dl=0) but I can't remember how exactly I converted this... I suppose I used the BCH texture replacer but as I already mentioned, it works with neither a custom build of the "official" Ohana Rebirth repository by gdkchan (file not supported error) nor the current or earlier version of GotTextures (null reference)...

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie to ripping and i've been trying to follow some guides to ripping files. I've gotten a hold of a Pokemon Sun .3ds file and i'm trying to extract environment building models from it, but all the files I am trying to preview just say 'unsupported file format' and I am only finding .Bin files.

Could someone have a look at my method and let me know what I am missing?

Software:

GarcTool
3DS Rom Tools
Ohana3DS Rebirth (built from newest source)
Pokemon Sun .3DS file

Method:

Open 3DS Rom Tools.
Load in the .3DS file.
Click Extract RomFS.
Click Unpack RomFS.
Extract the files using Garc Tool or Ohana3DS Rebirth at e.g "Pokemon Sun\unpacked\romfs\a\0\8\3"
I should get a folder made from the extraction named '3' and inside it I will have a number of .bin files named like 'dec_0004.bin' and a few 'dec_0016.aaaa'.
Open Ohana3DS Rebirth and browse the extracted files. If I open dec_0004.bin for example. I will be shown more .bins in ohana named like 'file_00006.bin' and inside that again is like a russian doll with more bins. Extracting anything from that i get the 'unsupported file format'.

What Happens:

For me, if I open the unpacked files in Ohana3DS I am only shown .Bin files. If I extract them (using Ohana or Garc Tool) and try to preview them, I am told 'Unsupported File Format'. I can't find any files that will give me model files. I have looked at the lists people have made who say models are in X folder etc.

I am wondering if I have a corrupted game or I am missing a vital step or is it just an entirely wrong location?

I have been using the guide for location from:
"The overworld models are stored in a083"
https://gbatemp.net/threads/pokemon-sun-...01/page-22
https://pastebin.com/RygMs9kk

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance people!

That worked, thanks josh!

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I also have another question.

I have managed to get in and find all the environment interior models (pkmn Moon version, folder: a/0/8/6) and they appear with only vertex lighting in Ohana viewport. Looking in the textures slot in ohana, nothing is there. Could someone tell me where to locate the textures for these?

Thanks again!

a083 actually has more than just the overworld models. Every 5-6 bins(more or less, not sure) in a083 contain the environment texture, model, npc model and etc of ONE area. Encounter data is part of it.

You can test this out by changing the encounter data in pk3ds and then copy paste the edited a083 onto another copy of the game. Then test out the wild pokemon in the edited area.

Tho the exact encounter table bin locations are not known to me. I'm just a pk3ds user.

This list says otherwise.. I'm asking here because the list doesn't have WE on there.
I think there are 2 wild encounter garcs (1 for sun and 1 for moon). Whenever I edit on sun it shows 082 but whenever I edit moon it shows 083. Talk about lazy, the sun/moon romfs are copy/pastes of each other. There's probably like 5 lines of code in the code.bin that differentiates the 2 games lol.

Edit: I've tested it and 083 doesn't work on sun and 082 probably doesn't work on moon. The way I figured this out was from pk3ds
