No. I think you misunderstood me.

My New 3DS XL is what I'm currently playing on. I want to do a system transfer to a regular sized New 3DS. From what I know, not everything will transfer over to the New 3DS. So backup up my N3DSXL NAND before the transfer, and place it on the New 3DS after the transfer and all my non-transferred stuff will appear.
That would result in a brick. You can't restore the NAND backup from a different console. The transfer will move the data over. To make all the non-legit games reappear, back up the tickets from the source and restore on the target. Or if all your games came from freeShop, use tikShop to install all available tickets.

Hi all. Thanks for letting me take part of your community...long time reader, first time poster! I remember this site being a huge help when I last modded my original Wii nearly 10 years ago! I still love the console and own it to this day. I've recently acquired a second hand 2DS - which I am discovering for the first time.

I'm hoping somebody would be able to point me in the right direction or at least clarify on what to do safely upgrade a 2DS with CFW as most of the guides I've come across are a few weeks/months so unsure if they still apply.

I am currently on 9.2-20E and completed a fresh install of CFW yesterday using the instructions on 3ds.guide and the Soundhax exploit. Luma is up to date and everything seems to be working ok. I followed through all the steps of the guide, including cleaning up the SD folders and removing the NAND backup (but backed it up on my PC). I've successfully installed Freeshop and received a notification that I was unable to install a particular game which requires a minimum 9.6 system update.

1. Is there a way I can safely upgrade without going to the latest version? Therefore only going from 9.2 to 9.6. Everything I've come across only refers to updating to the latest version and then downgrading.
2. Would there be any danger if I attempted to install a game which requires the higher firmware via a CIA file or would it simply not install?

There's no reason to want to be on a lower version than the latest. If you have b9s and Luma, you can safely update through System Settings. The guide actually tells you to do this anyway. You can install a game that requires a higher firmware but it will just get stuck on the Nintendo 3DS loading screen when you try to play it.

Thanks a million. Managed to successfully update and play the game I was previously trying to install. Really impressed with the quality of games I've tried so far and regret not getting the system sooner.

Other then the obvious games (first part titles), are there any games you would suggest for somebody discovering the system for the first time?

Oh oh oh oh!!
I LOVE the Zero Escape trilogy. 999, the first game (9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors), is on DS so you'll need a DS flashcart or just play it on a DS emulator on your PC. The second is Virtue's Last Reward and the third Zero Time Dilemma. Very important to play them in order. I love these games because the story really blows your mind and the puzzles are actually hard, it's no kid's game.

I also love VVVVVV. Beautiful little platformer with a really unique concept.

Then there are the must-plays: Zelda Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, A Link Between Worlds, Mario 3D Land, and probably others that I can't think of right now.

Thanks - looks rather simple but happy to be proven wrong as I really enjoy my platformers and fun puzzle games.

Wasn't expecting so many suggestions - cheers. I was a massive fan of the DS and spent countless hours on it (courtesy of my M3 flashcard) but never got a chance to play the Zero Escape games or 999. I'll be ordering a DS flashcard soon though given how cheap they've become and great library it has. Would be blasphemy to play on an emulator and will definitely try all those 3DS games.

In Rosalina/HBL2.0/Luma8.1 or however you're supposed to refer to it, is there any method to boot games from that HBL menu currently or planned? I want a way to use legitimate out-of-region games or custom CIAs without having to worry about whether I'm online or having to remember to delete my activity log later. I'd imagine games ran from the HBL2.0 menu would still appear as the game/app HBL was first injected into, but there's no title select or HANS to make that work now.

Rosalina boots 3dsx files so I don't think this will be possible. Edit: oh you mean like HANS... That's interesting. You probably wouldn't be able to play online though (like Loadiine on Wii U) so there wouldn't be a lot of point. Just keep your WiFi switched off when playing a pirated eShop-only game.

Online play for the games/apps I'm thinking of specifically isn't important to me so I'd like to hear the idea you had in mind, unless you were just saying this is something that could be doable down the line but isn't currently.

Use GodMode9 to back up your tickets. Do a system transfer. Restore the tickets on the target console. All your stuff will have moved.

You can't just move the files, they are encrypted for the console they are installed on.

Hello, guys, I have a 2ds and I think that I need urgent help. I bought this 2ds from a friend of my job, and the console was already with custom firmware. The method used was Arm9LoaderHex + Luma3DS, very similar to the method presented in this video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQcDpEEgV2E). Ok, my console was working without any problem for 4 or 5 months. Yesterday, after a long period without play I turned it on, and the console tried to connect to internet and asked to install a new update. I didn't realize that could be dangerous, I don't have profound knowledge about 3DS CFW methodologies. So, I installed the update and the screen turned black. I tried to turn it on again, but just the blue light turn on, none image appears on the screen. This is an indication of a brick? Is it possible to correct this? Any help is well received.

ps: sorry for bad English, it's not my native language.

Follow https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s (best) OR visit https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases and download the 7.0.5 version, and replace the arm9loaderhax.bin on your SD card root with the one in the 7z archive.

I was looking at wanting to inject fbi to my older n3ds system. I have luma7.0.5 i believe it is. I want to use the inject fbi using h&s but cannot find anything of it using search. Also, I do know that there is the rosalina option. But with the errors and what have you i've seen other users get. I would like to stay with this option for the time being.

You could try to follow the previous guide by Plailect and use the Universal Inject Generator method to inject FBI into H&S (section 2 only), or find FBI in .app format to inject it with Decrypt9. There's no guarantee that the previous guide will still work.
