What?

He said the 3DS turns on, then a second later off again

Those are the symptoms of B9S not detecting boot.firm
yes, but then he asked if hardmod can help. yes, it can, because he can test NAND. I know that the 1 sec led is problem with something missing on sd, but he tried so many things already.

I'm thinking maybe something happened with my regular b9s installation, so overwriting it with an hardmod installation should fix it ...

Is it possible that the SD-card reader in your 3DS is faulty? Usually something like that just starts acting up a little bit, not finding it sometimes etc. And you have been switching cards so not the likeliest of things wrong, but not impossible.

This happens to me sometimes: try to put all your files in your PC, format the SD card and re-copy the files to the card :)

Do you have backup of your (working) nand?
If I remember correctly, you don't even need a working NAND backup to fix a bricked system now.

But @Nosfay , you messed up your system even worse by attempting the hardmod. Either you fixed it, but fucked up firm0/firm1, or you didn't remove the hardmod correctly, resulting in a BSoD on every boot.
