So, after checking those sources Badge Arcade app grabs data from and comparing them to this dump from metaboss and the latest dumps from spongeabc5, I created some sort of "ultimate" database of badges.
It is based on data for JPN region, as there's most likely no any EUR/USA-exclusive badges, as far as I know.
This collection consist of 113 sets and 8572 unique badges (10374, if you count mega badges' tiles as individual badges). That should be every single badge in existence, if I ain't wrong.
You can download it here, if you want: https://mega.nz/#!lBogXK7L!iLwMTueDhcBtYN4vC84zYMR8kwyp6Jq_Xin_mFVhbZA
Badges are in PNG format, as usual. All 113 badge sets' icons in BCLIM format are also included.

To be honest, I think that it would be better and easier to manage badges and sets if Advanced Badge Editor could use PRBS and CABS files for badges and sets data respectively.
Those are official formats, they have practically all of the data, including names, both 64x64 and 32x32 tiles, badge and set's IDs and also Title IDs for shortcut badges.
Just my opinion, though.

Of course, since there's probably not much time left until Badge Arcade's servers are dead for good, I hope too that there will be a way to create a custom server of some sort in the future.
Basically, something similar to Mistery Machine server spoofer for Pokemon games.
Not only it'd help to preserve Badge Arcade in its original form, but also could be the only way to play it again for those unfortunate souls that got hit by Ninty's mighty banhammer.
Yeah, one can only dream…
P.S. I'm sorry if this can be considered as a useless necrobump.

I'll re-pull a new complete extract from the data files using the methods I was using before and see if I come up with the same result as you. @redunka based on what I remember from when I was looking at this a lot, your conclusion that there are no USA/EU exclusive badges is correct.

I also have a program that can extract all of the set/collection icons from the game files instead of trying to get them from peoples save/extdata. I'll pull those too and post them.

I'd like to mention that I compared badge dumps from you and spongeabc5 with the data from the latest allbadge_v130.dat, allbadge_v131.dat and pc.sarc (from app's latest update).
If I'm not wrong, those should be the main sources for badge data, right?
There's also data_v131.dat, which contains only current week's badges (appears to be saved to extdata as boss.sarc), but that one doesn't look as important as those three mentioned above.

P.S By the way, I remember that you've posted this prb2png application in one of those old badge-related threads, is that the same program you talk about, or you have a new one? :)

@redunka - yes, with those 3 files as your source you should have them all. I re-extracted all of the badges using my tools and I come up with 10,374 - same as you.

I've created a pretty comprehensive archive here: https://mega.nz/#!QEEQHIwD!4svPxBXuQeUr3Jj_Z6mnLxj_xL-1qxWb2-gvF2k2DRA

It contains

* all 10,374 individual badges (64 x 64 pixels)
* all 10,374 individual badge previews (32 x 32 pixels)
* 990 mega badge thumbs (64x64 pixels)
* 990 mega badge thumb previews (32 x 32 pixels)
* 1394 Crane Icons (64 x 64 pixels) (these come from the .icb files)
* 113 set icons cropped (48 x 48 pixels)
* 113 set icons original (64 x 64 pixels)
* 17 set book icons cropped (48 x 48 pixels)
* 17 set book icons original (64 x 64 pixels)

I created a tool very similar to prb2png, rewritten in C# that handles icb and cab files in addition to prb. It also exports the previews and thumbnails which prb2png does not do. I call it NBATool and I'll release it on github in a few days after I fix some of the code.

I think the only other thing I could add to the archive would be stitched together mega badges. There are also crane backgrounds in the CRB files - But I don't know how to read the textures in them and convert them to pngs. If anyone has any ideas let me know and I'll see if I can pull it off.

Is there a way to just put the ExtData from a complete badge collection onto a 3DS and make use of it? Not for the Badge Arcade game, but just to decorate on the home menu.

Well, this is the best I could do with them.
They probably supposed to look like this.
Format and size here is ETC1 512x256.

P.S. I'm sorry if I'm asking for too much, but can it be possible for your program to also add TIDLow at the end of shortcut badges' names (i.e. <Name>.<TIDLow>.png)?
PRB files for shortcut badges have full Title IDs at 0xA4, but we only need last 8 digits (first 4 bytes).
I think it would be nice. :blush:

Unfortunately, the BadgeMngFile is only big enough for 1,000 badges, while these two are getting a final tally of 10,374, so even if you wanted to, the whole collection can't be added to your badge case. Of course, with a limit of 300 icons on the HOME menu, I don't see why any more than 1,000 is necessary.

As for @redunka and @metaboss, thanks for picking up where I left off. School's been taking up a lot of my time lately, and I take it copy-pasting bytes isn't nearly as efficient as NBATool. :rofl2:

Thanks for the explanation. Does that mean for us to change the badges in our badge case, we'd have to use Badge Arcade or homebrew? I imagine Badge Arcade would complain about corrupt save file and get you banned for cheating.

@redunka thank you for the direction on ETC1 format. I was able to port over the ETC1 code from EFE and get the textures to dump. I wrote a routine to grab out the background and overlay the border on it. I'll finish it up tomorrow. I think adding TIDLow to the end of the filename if the 4 bytes @ 0xA4 != 0xFFFFFF should be easy enough, I'll investigate that this weekend.

Great news for everyone who would like to use badges & sets in their original formats.
@TheMachinumps has added support for PRBS and CABS files in Advanced Badge Editor.
He also made a tutorial for getting those files (don't worry, it's not that hard).
With this you'll be able to import in your exdata pretty much any of the official badges with all of their info.
Really big thanks to him for all this work. ^_^

For those interested, I recently asked @GerbilSoft to add prb/cab support to rom-properties, which is a shell extension for windows and linux that generates or downloads thumbnails/icons for several rom types. It also adds a new tab to the properties page showing tons of data on those roms.

He added it, it's currently in the source, and will be released publically in rom-properties 1.2.
