You should always make backups. If you have to ask, you shouldn't be messing with it. It isn't Hourglass9.
I have an emunand backup from when I first switched from menuhax to a9lh back in november, since I had to make one with hourglass9 so i could inject it into my sysnand in the first place, but I'm not quite shure if it counts as a backup with a9lh permissions.I heard someone say that you could do somthing with firm0firm1.bak as an alternate way but im not shure about that either, thats why i asked first.

I hope this gets a b9s update soon: I would love to use this on my system!

Look few posts above yours.

You can ask in noob paradise, but my rule of thumb is, if you don't understand what you have to do with firm/NAND, then you're better off not messing with it. There are far too many people that royally screw up their 3DS by not knowing WTF they are doing. I'm not saying you are once since you know enough to ask first. The EmuNAND backup probably won't have a9lh, but I'm not 100% sure. It might depend on when you made the backup. Better to ask in Hourglass9 thread. This is getting way off topic.

Registering just to ask a question, which roughly relates to this thread...I hope?

Could anyone please point me to a direction where I could hide title id/ app/ folders/ icons inside my 3DS home screen? Is it even possible? I saw from the first page of this thread that it's possible, but not enough instruction was given.

As quoted from "Ryccardo":
It's already possible to hide any app from Home by romhacking (extract the exefs, edit the icon to disable the visibility bit, recompress and install, open when needed with DevMenu/FBI)

This seems really...hard and...unintuitive? Could I possibly use this Kecleon Patch to achieve it?

Thanks in advance! ^^

Could you just use the 3DS home menu save-state tool?
Thanks for the reply! What do you exactly mean by "3DS home menu save-state tool"? Is that supposed to be a tool
A quick google search directed to "3DS HomeMenu extdata Tool", at this URL https://github.com/yellows8/3ds_homemenu_extdatatool
Is this the one which you mentioned?

I took a quick glance and read through it briefly...and I completely have no idea how to operate it.
You don't happen to know some tutorials in using it, do you?

Once again, thanks in helping out here ^^
Really appreciate it!

Could someone test this (you might need a NAND backup for this).

-get the latest version of bootctr9 (firm version. And make Shure it's set to boot.firm)

-once you have the boot_config.ini script for ctrboot9,open it on your pc real quick, and change the part that has luma.firm to kecleon.bin and hit save, then put the files for bootctr9 and kecleon (the bin file for kecleon will be called "arm9loaderhax.bin,just change it to kecleon.bin so the script can read it)on your 3ds's sd card in a editing folder.Once you have that all setup put the sd card back in the 3ds

- (use either godmode9 or fbi for these next parts) put the bootctr9 firm file on the root of the ctrnand along with the boot_config.ini script. The boot_config.ini might go in the rw folder instead but I'm not quite shure.

-create a folder inside the rw folder called "Payloads" (capital "P") and put the kecleon.bin inside it.

-turn off your 3ds and reboot without your sd card.

-if you brick the NAND,put the sd card back in and try to boot,if it does boot then delete the stuff we put on and setup luma.firm on the ctrnand again like normal,if it doesn't boot run decrypt9 and restore your NAND backup.

Let me know if this works.Chances are it won't but ctrboot9 gives full backwards compatibility to a9lh cfw payloads and allows them to boot on b9s so its worth a try.

Any word on this getting an official update for Luma 8?

I'd love to be able to install CIAs without worrying about being banned while also being able to attend Pokemon VGCs without getting disqualified

Use an EmuNAND... It'll do wonders...

Create an emuNAND, make it vanilla as possible, when attending events just autoboot to emuNAND?

I'll see what I can do

@Omnious66521: I tried your method and all I get is a "config file not found" message when using the firm version of BootCTR9 (with AND without putting boot_config.ini into rw)

I'm surprised it didnt brick you since I didn't know bootctr9 could boot through the ctrnand properly.Try putting the Payloads folder with the kecleon.bin on the root of the ctrnand instead along with the boot_config.ini.If that doesn't work then I have no clue why.

The problem is that BootCTR9 relies on boot_config.ini for it to work. I tested it out with a clean SD Card with just it's files and converted Kecleon's bin file into a firm with firmtool, named it "luma.firm", placed it into the "Payloads" folder on the MicroSD card (I'm using a MicroSD Card Adapter) and booted the system with said card in there and that made it work. However that would still leave me at Square One. So for the time being. Until there is an official FIRM release of Kecleon, I'll just stick with my default SysNAND for the time being. (I expect that any VGC Tourneys near me won't happen until the Fall anyway :P)

Is there a version of this for Boot9Strap? I'd like to disable holding START/SELECT on boot, and allow the config.bin file to be placed somewhere in the CTRNAND instead of my 3DS's SD card.

Exactly what I needed lol...well for now, all I am trying to look for is to disable holding START/SELECT on boot, not asking for more than that...but seems impossible for it to be on Luma3ds, not without another clean SD card.

Don't worry, I'm creating "Stealth" builds that I'll be making a thread for in a little while. I'll tag you in the thread when I publish it.
