Metroid Prime 4 is in development!

Metroid Prime 4 is now in development. Dreams really do come true.

No other info is currently known.

The new game will mark the first entry in the Prime series in a decade, as the original trilogy concluded with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on the original Wii in 2007. The Prime subseries debuted on the GameCube in 2002, and was especially notable for successfully translating the iconic, moody exploration of the original Metroid games into a three-dimensional, first-person experience.

Hm, really excited actually. However, why even make an empty video for such a simple announcement? Hopefully it is not foreboding an empty promise they can't realise even.

Nintendo knows that in order to get people on board with the Switch, they have to make excellent content. I am fully expecting this to be delayed maybe to the end of 2018.

Just look at BotW. It was originally revealed in 2014.

If it means making an amazing metroid game, then I am all for it. The prime games are what got me into Nintendo in the first place, and I hope they aren't what take me out...

Maybe now would be a good time to get into Metroid. Any recommendations? I have a GBA 2D metroid and one of the NES/SNES or something 2D metroids, and I just don't like 'em. So from the 3D metroids, which one's good? I'll go play it and see if I like it.

Aside from other M, the prime series IS the only 3D Metroid and the recommended ones. I'll be honest and say that the Wii trilogy is probably the best bet, as the motion controls make for a really good experience.

Not a fan of the Metroid series but it's really nice to see Nintendo's reviving a semi-dead series of theirs. :)

The "4" made me think they were going to reveal "SUPER SMASH BROS. 4 DELUXE" but thankfully that wasn't the case. ^_^

I wouldn't want them to "spoil" a sub-series from new entries. For example, each console typically gets one Mario Kart so I doubt there's gonna be a new Mario Kart for Switch now that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a thing. So I actually wouldn't want them to port Smash or any other sub-series from the Wii U because that would mean we might not see a new title in that series this generation.

I've got my physical copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy so I should get my WiiU out and play it. But before that, I'll need to buy some packs of AA batteries. :P

Pshh, I equipped two o' my Wiimotes with rechargeables, but when they ran out, I never wanted to wait for them to charge, so I kept using AAs and just threw out the rechargeables :ha:

In hindsight, not the most efficient or logical thing to do....

I've always wanted to buy a pack of rechargeable batteries but they're so niche 'cause all my other controllers use internal batteries I'd just forget about this and never use it again. I'm glad that Nintendo actually announced a brand new game than "METROID PRIME TRILOGY DELUXE EDITION" lol. :P

Yup yup, last thing we need is another port/remake xD
Which is why it was so awesome seeing a flurry of cool new titles on Nintendo's E3 showcase.

The Switch's library was getting stale with only WiiU re-releases. Phew. That curse is gone.
