Not really. The game can't detect what you send in the GTS. The only way to get banned is either by genning multitudes of items (people have reported being banned for this), and by illegally obtaining the game before release.

Basically removed the ribbon of a SPR2013 Meloetta, made it from ORAS, changed the OT, shinified it, profit.

@CybaltM - I just got hit with a console ban, and this came after the weekly maintenance on Monday night. Thinking back, last week I did send at least one of these, a shiny Keldeo in a link trade. So I wonder if that was the culprit because otherwise I did inoffensive genning as usual. Nothing else out of the ordinary. When was the last time you sent one of these and have you gotten a console ban? It's the 002-0102 one.
Never mind, got confirmation elsewhere, someone trading illegal shinies a lot, no ban. I called Nintendo and their reason was use of "unauthorized software." I don't know what it was exactly, same old stuff from me. NTR, FTPD, PKMN-NTR, of course that being a PC application.

Joke aside i don't get why Game Freak is so restricted with some Shiny. I see in this topic a Meloetta and i don't think they never relased is shiny form legit. Same for Victini and the recent Zygarde.

Thankfully the N64 had a metric ton of other fantastic games. I do kind of hate the controller though, I didn't mind it at the time but over the years I have slowly learned to hate it.
