Nintendo announces the New 2DS XL

Coming out of absolutely nowhere, Nintendo has revealed a new variation of the 2DS...the New 2DS XL! The system features a top screen that looks almost like a cell phone snapped onto the bottom of a 3DS. It has the extra processing power of the N3DS, amiibo functionality, and the C-stick nub, while, just like the original 2DS, omits the 3D feature of the handheld. The New 2DS XL will release on July 28, and retail for $149.99.

Btw it seems like regular new3ds is getting discontinued and only new3ds xl will remain.
So this new2ds xl could be a replacement for old small new3ds.

In America, we never got the non-XL 3DS/n3DS except for special bundles or last year's black friday deal (which was sold out on Amazon before they were even supposed to go on sale). It's really annoying to me because I don't want a bloated XL, even if it wasn't more expensive than the regular size. I want something small and portable.

That means the o3DS family is definitely discontinued, and it was about time. Recent games are laggy as hell on it (Hyrule Warriors Legends) or require memory extended mode aka N3DS-enhanced mode.

Anybody care to guess where they put the stylus this time? That button thing next to the headphone jack looks suspicious...

This is what Nintendo has degenerated into. Milking fanboys and fangirls slowly by adding features one step at a time, instead of packing it all in at once. They are no better than Apple now, and is the reason I am disgusted with them, and have given up on them 99%.

I'm a collector so I'll probably own one...even with its crappy power switch location like the N3DS. Speakers in a crappy location. The stylus will get jammed into the headphone port...why did they put them next to each other..? I like they moved the Cart back to the top of the unit. I hate its current location on the N3DS. IPS screens please???

Ok cart is on the bottom with a cover???wth.

By this point, I think this is only made to get rid of all the N3DS motherboard stockpile. I hope this means that this year's E3 announcement will give us more N3DS/N2DSXL exclusive titles. Also, looks like Nintendo will have a lot of things to push this Christmas if this, the Switch and the rumoured SNES Classic will finally appear.
