1. Thank you for clearing that up, soI dont need a fw.img on root of sd any more with haxchi either?
2. I have Mocha and Haxchi but not CBHC - do I need CBHC as well as Mocha and haxchi to install and run VC?
1. Trash it, don't look at it, don't even poke it with a stick. Just get rid of it.
2. Haxchi v2.5u2 allows users to launch it's own built-in CFW by holding B or setting config.txt in SDCard://haxchi/config.txt to:
Code:
a=wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
b=wiiu/apps/appstore/hbas.elf
default=sysmenu

If you're booting CBHC then another CFW which takes even more to load and has chance to freeze, then you're defeating whole purpose of ColdBootHaxChi. CBHC has it's own built-in CFW called "CBHC CFW", you can enter it by setting Autoboot to sysmenu and launching sysmenu.

Thanks v much im reading your guide now, wish I would have read I before the others! SO just to clear this up - Does Haxchi CFW allow installation of VC or do I need CBHC CFW for VC to install and play?

Both allow. Same goes with Mocha CFW if it's newer version

Hi, I have Haxchi - no CBHC, managed to load 8 Wii U titles to my 500gb WD elements USB drive all good. When I try to install vc titles (like 3ds games, etc) downloaded from UtikDownloadHelper and WiiU uSb Helper I get Error: MPC_InstallGetInfo 0xFFFBF3E2. Confirm complete WUP files are in the folder. Also I am now unable to install any games to my USB but installs to nand fine...when trying to install to USB the install will run for a few seconds, then my USB will make a click sound and the percentage bar freezes. All the previous installed games on the USB seem to run fine. The USB is brand new only been used on Wii U. I have now installed what I believe is called IOSU Hax (aka: fw.img method) I still have the same issue with this custom fw running.I have not used a Y-cable adapter for my USB - powered from just one port, and I have tried all 4 USB ports with same issue every time.
My questions: 1. am I correct in thinking that fw.img/IOSU Hax is now outdated and haxchi can do everything that method can do (like run unsigned content)?
2. What am I missing regarding installing VC games to either nand or USB? Do I need to modify tickets? If so please point me in the right direction as I cant find this info anywhere.
3. Any ideas on why I can no longer install to my USB drive?

Many thanks in advance and thank you to all the brilliant minds who have brought this scene to life :)
You need a Y cable, because USB ports on the Wii U can't power your HDD alone.

Side note: avoid fw.img. Since you have Haxchi, just useit.

Still awaiting Y-cable so I have disconnected USB and been focusing on successfully installing a VC/unsigned title to no avail :(
I redownloaded the same VC titles using Wii U USB helper, same error message (Error: MPC_InstallGetInfo 0xFFFBF3E2. Confirm complete WUP files are in the folder).
I have since then reformated SD card (64gb sandisk sd xc) using fat32-format tool set to 32768 cluster, deleted haxchi via data management, redownloaded DS game from Estore, reinstalled latest Haxchi, booted sysmenu in haxchi...still I can NOT install VC to
my nand - no USB connected. I have tried with Mario and Luigi dream team bros, New super mario bros 2, Zelda link between worlds, zelda majoras mask 3ds - I get the same error mentioned above with all of them. Just installed Mario colour splash to NAND with no problem but this is an offical Wii U title, all the other games mentioned above are not available on the Eshop so are unsigned.
I got Slender (labeled as CFW only on Wii U usb helper)) to install on NAND with no probs but this is on Eshop.
I am missing something here?? Only official Wii U downloads will run on my CFW, no unsigned VC will work.

Could it be to do with the site I am using for the title keys within Wii U usb helper? I have the correct one for Wii U titles but perhapse my 3ds titles key web address is my problem?? Please give me a nod an a wink if this could be it?...I am using the 1st site that comes up when I google search '3ds title database'.

Why would you put a 3ds title database into Wii U USB helper?

Why would you put a 3ds title database into Wii U USB helper?
Because Wii U USB Helper asks me to put 2 different addresses in for the tickets one for wii u and one for 3ds. Am I wrong in thinking that the CFW should allow one to play 3ds games on the Wii u, like in VC format? Just that on Wii U USB helper it specifically asks for 2 seperate urls and specifies one for 3ds and one for wii u, man im confused...u wanna see a screen shot of it?

I'm not sure that's the source of your issue but I don't remember ever seeing that option. Maybe I should try latest version.

Anyway just use the Wii U one and then redownload dlc and try

No that was my issue, now I have removed the 3ds url, all the games that i dwnlded that wouldnt install before arent appearing - they were all ones from the 3ds data base.
Will confirm once these games have finished downloading

In case others find this thread based on the error code, and share the OP's confusion, the 3DS games have a red box in Wii U USB Helper, and the Wii U games have a blue box. You can remove either system's games using the 'filters' tab, or you can click the Change Ticket Location button and omit the 3DS (or Wii U) url.

@Hikari06 - maybe you could catch this by disabling the 'Copy To SD' option for 3DS games (unless they also belong in the sd:/install directory for some reason.)

The copy to SD feature is actually also used for 3DS games since the app has to pack them to CIA before copying them.

Does IOSUHAX and vWii Homebrew still work with 5.5.2? Is it safe to update or possible to Install Homebrew from scratch while at this version?

Greetings

I'm new to messing with the Wii U but have messed with Wii and had success before.

Just need someone to tell me if the following can be done:

Play VC games.(could do this on my Wii from SD card)
Play Wii U games from USB HD
Play Wii games from USB HD (I used GX loader on my Wii)
Play GC games (could do this on my Wii)

Most importantly can all this be done on the same Wii U?
