Some thoughts regarding that discussion from previous page about downloading only certain DLC…
If I understand that right, it would be hard to get actual names for separate pieces of DLC, because of where those names are supposed to be retrieved from?
As far as I know, an application and its DLC shop read those names from ContentInfoArchive file, which doesn't actually specify content indexes, but just lists names for all avilable DLC in the same order as their indexes go in TMD.
And unfortunately, said file is inside of the first NCCH partition of a DLC tiltle, that partition is usually called "content metadata" or "control content" (at least 3dbrew uses both of these terms, I prefer the second one), and it always has content index 0.
Icons for DLC are also stored in this partition and are stated in ContentInfoArchive as well (entries for icons may be mistaken for content indexes, but they don't always match).
This appears to be the exact reason for why (almost) every DLC shop allows to get DLC ticket for free - so it could install this first content to access names and icons of all downloadable content that is available.
So the main problem here is that there's probably no way to access that list without actually installing the "control content" first, and if it even can be accessed by anything but the app that DLC was made for, right?
