Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego ?

I agree with Oregon Trail, Carmen Sandiego, and the Munchers games. I loved those games. There is one game I'd really love to find and play on the mini, but first some back story.

My parents had an old Apple IIgs, which wasn't that old when we had it, and they had bought a Lord of the Rings game for it. I believe it said Middle Earth, but could be wrong. I was playing on the computer and dragged what I thought was just the icon to the trash and emptied it. When I tried to load the game, it wasn't there anymore because it had deleted the disks instead of just the icon. I LOVE how easy Apple made it to completely erase disks that contained a program you bought and paid for. Anyways, it has never set well with me that I ruined a game that we only played a few times and my stepmom never got to play but was really excited about.

If someone could let me know if they remember the game and if it's possible to play on the mini, I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't imagine there were a lot of LotR games back then, especially for the IIgs

I think this may have been brought up before, but is there any way to connect an N64 controller to the nes classic ? Or can the buttons be mapped to a controller that CAN be used on the classic ?
As far as I know there are a couple of viable options:

- Wii Classic Controller
- 8bitdo N64 pad (with 8bitdo retro receiver)
- 8bitdo NES30 Pro pad (with 8bitdo retro receiver)
- Hori fight pad(?)

The hmod that peeps are looking for is the coleco for the nes mini. Peeps have tried Cologne, Coolcv and BlueMSX with no results.Cologne worked but the whole game output is horrible.

Blue MSX is looking for MSX, as its core machine. The only way it can possibly run would be if you...

retroarch-core-options.cfg as follows:

bluemsx_msxtype = "COL - ColecoVision"

The bios would have to be accounted for, as well...It would, on the PC version, be placed in the Machines/COL - ColecoVision folder.

Here is the problem, however. Colecovision WORKS. But, the numeric pad is not programmed properly into the code!

I am running more tests with my setup. I will post, accordingly.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I did that last week but i found that it emulates the Coleco like crap, the sound is crap, and the video output has errors, and some games were crashing...i rather have CoolCV running on the NESC but it seems that no-one is willing to convert this emulator to NESC.

I am running more tests with Colecovision. Let me know some games that have crashed for you. So, I can test those.

I thought you said you have colecovision running(full romset) on your mini ?

I do have it running. I am referring to how Mega was attempting to do it with Blue MSX. I am using another method, with the gba conversion, except...things are running fine for me. I have been able to fix the screen size, and games have not crashed for me, at all. I will probably post a video of it tomorrow. I also got Narc running, a game a few others couldn't get running on MAME. I love Colecovision as much as you guys! It was literally one of my first priorities since I got the Mini NES going with Retroarch. The GBA conversion has been really good for me. If you guys laid out exactly which games were crashing for you, and what general issues you are contending with...I can do my best to test those perimeters out. As of right now, I have loaded a ton of games, and have not had one single issue. They have all been playing great for me. And, I am playing full screen.

I was merely trying to lay to rest, the blue msx component. So, keep me informed on the Colecovision issues, and games that crashed, so I can test them! My conversions have been quite successful, thus far.

The above text is straight from Github, and the patch is not apliable on the libretro core.

I also thought you had all the Colecovision games running...as GBA i think ?
If i run any Coleco game with the GBA emulator, all the text is messed up, the sound sounds like it is 4 bit distorted.
Donkey Kong crashing in the 2nd level, Mario is also walking through the ground instead of ON it.
Smurf is actually playable but it sounds bad, and many items in the screen are flickering.

A message from the creator of CoolCV
"Hi.
I don't have enough time to port CoolCV to libretro and from what I've seen in Internet it's not so easy.
Last and not least I don't have a NES Mini.
Regard,
Óscar
"

Then a person on github about bluemsx:
"You should be able to copy Lakka's core that was meant for an rpi2 or similar device, or you can compile it yourself with an armhf toolchain (Ubuntu16 has one readily available)."

Then PCM720 also told me that it cannot be done the easy way, so we are running out of options :-(

I already figured you had searched for any options you could. Anyways, I will test Donkey Kong out, and such. As far as the flickering issues, and screen garbled text. I have already changed settings to fix that. Let me test some more, then I can give you the proper settings to use! And, yes, I am playing the GBA conversions. Let me tinker with things a little more, and test Donkey Kong, to see if my settings prevent it from crashing!

Okay cool, i only tested Smurf, Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.
Mousetrap obvious needs more buttons, but it would never be playable on the GBA anyway

yeah, it doesn't make much sense to me. Battlezone and Lunar Lander are the only two arcade games that I have on my classic that give me the black and white menu when they start. Like I said, the game starts normally and then after "put in coins" and hit start to play...the menu pops up. I don't know why it would be just these two games. If it comes down to it, I can still play them on my computer.

You couldn't remap any buttons to get rid of the menu ? On a computer, you make the menu come up with TAB and make it go away with Escape. I'm still not sure what settings in the mappings you need to change to fix this....

Ill try to get lunar lander to work. Most games with diagnostics, etc, I have been able to find ways to bypass. Ill do the same on this and battlezone for you:)

Cool. I need Lunar Lander and Battlezone to work. Like I've said, when I try to play them, the little black and white mame menu pops up. On the computer, I can get rid of it with the escape key. But I can't figure out how to do that on a controller.

Right now I'm playing Metal Slug (1) using mame2003 mini core and there is no blood. If I use the neo geo rom and use my fbalpha_neogeo core will there be blood? Has anybody tried this?

You have to enable blood in either core. Fba or mame2003. Fba neo you can't have blood.

Tested and confirmed. Thanks for the response. I guess I'll go with no blood.
If you go into dip switches on mame 2003 you turn the blood option on.

Narc on mame2000 also runs amazing... You just need to restart the rom a second time via the retroarch menu once it's booted up and got past the initial rom checks.
