I'm sorry I'm not following, could you be more specific?
You linked a page where you had said something about blocking stuff on a router. I assumed you knew what you posted which was the DNS to block updates on the Switch.

It used to remove the update nag and allow you to use eShop still and now it quit working.

I you are referring to the DNS 205.166.76.187 address, I do not know why it's not working. Maybe they haven't added the beach.hac.lp1.eshop.nintendo.net address to their list. This is why I block them on my own with fiddler or a router instead of relying on other people.

If you follow my post:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/dns-to-block-the-updates-of-the-switch.465952/#post-7208328
I will endeavor to keep it updated, and as you can see I added the beach address the day it it starting hassling people. You should try to block it yourself with your router or with a program like fiddler or LocalDNS like @DocAmes1980 suggested.

The only address you need to block right now are:

sun.hac.lp1.d4c.nintendo.net
beach.hac.lp1.eshop.nintendo.net

If you router does not support blocking https then you will need to use an application.

Once you have blocking set up, you need to restart the console to remove the nag screen.

Here are the custom rules I use:

Code:
;Switch system update server
sun.hac.lp1.d4c.nintendo.net,Deny
beach.hac.lp1.eshop.nintendo.net,Deny

;Switch phone home
receive-lp1.dg.srv.nintendo.net,Deny
receive-lp1.er.srv.nintendo.net,Deny

;Switch connection test
;conntest.nintendowifi.net,Redirect,xploit.ninty.ninja

The last line is if you want to redirect the connection test page the Switch tries to load when you connect to a network.

Here's a link to LocalDNS just in case. It's no frills but it's lightweight and dead simple:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-localdns-a-new-way-to-block-updates.445930/

Remember to check your routers settings first to see if it is capable of blocking the offending URLs. I wouldn't use a proxy, public DNS, or any other blocking method if my router could block traffic on anything but port 80. I have an HTPC that's always on anyways so using a DNS emulator is not a big inconvenience for me.

the question is... Can we play games online, or just play games, who contains the update 2.1+?
Doubt it, but who knows if we have kernel permissions. All I know is that it's currently still possible still to get on the eshop from 2.0 but it crashes after I exit.

(with no khax or userland+ then none of that should be possible except eshop access if that's what you're asking)

I'm a cart user personally, so until an update is forced upon me to play a cart-based game, I'm staying on 2.0.0 here. So far, I can still download Zelda 'Game Update' just fine without needing to do the 'System Update'.
