I was reading a post about someone possibly bricking their 3DS and they did not have a nand backup, so got me thinking.. How do I make a nand backup? I looked into a tutorial here but it only applied to 9.2 or less FW. I have N3DS on 11.3 w/ A9LH.

I have a N3DS running Sys 11.1. I also have a O3DS on Sys 11.3 and I wanna be able to transfer my saves and NNID to the New. Will I brick if I attempt to system transfer from O3DS to N3DS? How can I update to 11.3 to the N3DS avoiding the new 11.4 update?

my o3ds on 11.3 luma doesn't always turn on. To turn it on I have to take my sd card out' turn it on without it' turn it off and only then I can turn it on with the sd card in. What can I do to fix it? Is it safe to update to 11.4 for me?

Do you have arm9loaderhax.bin in the root of your sd?

Hold Start on boot to open Hourglass9, then go to SysNAND Options then SysNAND backup. When it is finished, put the file it generates in a safe place like on your computer and in cloud storage.

Install a9lh on the new 3DS, then update both and perform a system transfer. You'll need to reinstall tickets on the new 3DS after transferring to make pirated games show up. You can use TikShop for that.

There have been some changes since I last looked at it :-p Do you have a file in the luma/payloads folder called start_hourglass9.bin or similar?

Thanks. Everything worked well. Lots of unnecessary files transferred but everything all good on the N3DS. Where can I find the latest working Homebrew launcher for N3DS?

From FBI's TitleDB feature (for the cia) and from smealum's website for the starter pack.

Hey guys!
I used the well known guide to setup a CFW on my 3DS as soon as I saw Smealum's post about it now being possible for fw version 11.3. While I understood why and how 11.3 made downgrading your 3DS impossible for a while, I did not understand how UDSploit bypasses that. So I searched the internet for answers and what confused me is, that it said UDSploit gives you ARM11 kernel access, while the guide says that at the end of it you have ARM9 kernel access. So my question is: What information is correct? I mean, I have access to godmode9, which is executed by the ARM9 kernel, isn't it?

My understanding is that Safehax uses arm11 kernel to get arm9 kernel, and udsploit allows arm11 kernel. So a combination of the two allows arm9 kernel access.

Figured it out. In that folder it turns out I had y.bin, b.bin, and start.bin. What I did was replaced b.bin with hourglass9.bin and start.bin with godmode9.bin (renamed them after deleting the original ones). So now if I hold start at boot I am brought to that menu to select y, b, or start and when selected I can get to those options now.

That makes sense... Thanks a lot for the quick answer!
Would you say that it's better not to update or to update to 11.4 with luma and a9lh? On 11.3 I can still use ctr-httpwn to have access to the e-shop and so on, right? But on 11.4 I would have access to everything except homebrew aswell, wouldn't I?

Help? Using FBI, I installed a cia that was basically a patched version of Flipnote Studio 3D, but it went and overwrote my original FS3D. I have plenty of SD Card backups, but where on my SD card would I find my original game?

EDIT: I meant my backups

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.
