Hardware How to tell what console I have

So I bought a couple of 360 consoles second hand so not sure if they are 4gb ones or not as only 1 had a hard drive. How much on board storage would a 250gb have if it had no hard drive connected?

Is there a way to tell without opening

There's no way you can tell without opening.
You have to open the consoles or go to the system memory tab.

System memory shows 2. Something gb on them so assume that's the 4gb nand?

Like I said, you can't tell what one you have unless you open it.
All you can know if it's a 4GB or a HDD one without opening.

Oh yea I know that but I have a phat jasper and one of the slims is a trinity so know I can do those with materials I have. I'd say my other 2 4gbs are coronas but will be opening them this week so will know for sure

Yea I only ever rgh'd a 250gb corona before (v3 iirc) so the sd reader will be new to me

I've never heard of system memory showing internal space when you don't have it.
Either you weren't specific or mixed it up somehow.

Looks like a 4GB to me. Early 4GB consoles had a standard 16MB nand + a seperate 4GB module plugged into the board. My 4GB trinity is like that.

Seen a video from weekend modder on this exact model and it's nand was read the same way you would with a non 4gb model is that correct or am I missing something (quite possible lol)

Yeah, it's read the same as a non-4gb model. It's literally just standard nand + a memory unit plugged into the board. You can even run the system without it and you will just lose the storage. I read mine with a cheap Matrix usb nand flasher.

I bought a "4GB" on Amazon but months later when I was having issues with it, I realized that I actually bought a 250GB model but the ass who sold it to me removed the HDD and sold me an empty bay. I was way too slow on the uptake for that.

Ofcourse limited to 20/60/120/250/320/500 GB
