Best download manager?

I use BT for most of my downloads, but you sometimes want to download other files, and my luck has been pretty bad with these programs so far. I used DAP for a while, but that has a tendency to reset downloads after reaching a substantial percentage, which really sucks with big downloads. It also has other flaws. I started using FlashGet recently, and it just might be worse. It somehow stops downloading all of a sudden and my entire wireless home network goes down until I reset the router. It gets really frustrating having to do this as often as I have in the last two days.

So, any suggestions for download managers that actually do what they're supposed to do and make my life easier would be great.

Way back, I used to use Leechget ( http://www.leechget.net ). It was great and really did what it was advertizing

The integrated Firefox download manager is the one I use, ok it only offers start, pause and stop but assuming the site agrees with pausing then it works.

Stuff like rapidshare is a different matter, I use CryptLoad then: OCR and a fair level of customisation makes it pretty good. I forget where I got it but it should not be too hard to dig up. It also has a fairly nice download manager (with the ability to grab stuff from the clipboard) as well but in all truth I have not played with it.

I used GetRight to download the Nintendo Press downloads @ e3 and it was really effective and downloaded quite quickly.

If you are using Firefox use the inbuilt one. As FAST6191 said its very basic but it gets the job done. You could also try out downthemall which has one in it, but it has stuffed up a couple times on me(It downloads faster then normal though). For IE and others I have no idea

Are you asking for a download manager to that of the inbuilt Firefox download manager or are you after a torrent program?

FlashGot. It's good and free!

I use it with the FlashGet extension for FireFox.

I'm with him. Flashget is IMO the best download manager, supports Direct Download, eMule and Bittorrent. Its great, easy and skinnable.

I have now installed Firefox and started using its download manager. I dislike Firefox because I could never get the mouse-wheel scrolling to work. And I just found out that Favorites are not exported in the same order, so that leaves me with the tedious task of reorganizing them.

As for FlashGet, I take it you guys have never experienced the problems I have? Hmm, it might not be the software that's causing the issue then.

Thank you for the help. I will most likely try out the other programs that have been suggested.

GetRight was always *THE* download manager to get a few years ago.
