I hope in a newer version that the list of installed modules can be updated based on whether you have it installed, removed etc. I can never remember what's installed, what's been removed when in the modules setting in hakchi. I know they've been removed/installed but the names of them are still present.

Agree, I was a lil surprised they hadn't added that. Instead of 2 screens (install and uninstall) they just need 1 screen that saves the values (can use a flat file for this task)
with 2 buttons "install" and "uninstall".. and the screen would use the flat file to load what's already installed.

Question: is the size of installed modules considered/included in the green bar 300mb limit in hakchi program?

If you are able to use the Clovershell module and using the shell to check the files on the NES mini you can list the contents of the cores folder.

I have been playing around with that and I was able to add the mame2014_libretro.so core, problem is that I don't think it works at all. Though I can load the core in RetroArch, I cannot run any games so far with it.

I have though been able to add games that were larger than 30MB, like Shock Troopers 2nd and Metal Slug 3. They both work well, Metal Slug has some slow downs as well as Shock Troopers 2nd. Still both functional though. I will try out some more when I get home. Will be great if this gets integrated with hakchi but would be a lot of work as @Cluster had stated earlier when Clovershell was released, since the hakchi would most likely be overhauled to have the shell commands work. Or it would be released as a totally separate tool.

Question: is the size of installed modules considered/included in the green bar 300mb limit in hakchi program?

As far as I can tell, they do not add towards the size indication bar at bottom. The modules do not reflect towards that value.

I believe so, when I uninstall modules I can see the size of the space changing. It's pretty small from what I can see though.

Well then, hmm if that is the case then I might need to do a fresh hakchi folder. I might have some stuff stored on it from before. When I uninstalled modules and installed them, the size stayed the same for me. Well that gives me something to do when I get home.

Thx.

As you go up in MAME versions ex) MAME2003 to MAME2014.. the required hardware specs go up. This is because of all the enhancements they add to the MAME emulators as the versions increase. There's almost 10 years of upgrades in MAME2014 (compared to MAME2003). With MAME you get diminishing returns - the more recent a core is, the more accurate the emulation and the higher the CPU requirements.

I believe this is why MAME2003 runs so well with NES classic.

I figured as much, especially when the core itself is 80MB+ compared to the ~5 MB of Mame2003. I was hoping I could get a more accurate version of it so that I can get some other games to work.

Just installed PCSX (PSX) core but games run real slow and allot of lag. Any one have the good retroarch video settings to run the games smooth ? It's possible i see in some youtube video's. ;)

I am having trouble running Super Mario World for the NES, not for the SNES. All i am getting is a mapper 48 warning in Hakchi2 and a grey screen when i run it.

Why not just load the SNES version and be done with it? Is there a reason you need that game in the NES version?

What are most people using for controllers to play SNES / Genesis games (or other)? I bought one of the 8bitdo retro receivers and connected it to my PS3 controller. I can't figure out how to get any other buttons to work. Everything is A, B or turbo A, B. I tried messing with the button mapping in retroarch but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any way to map the buttons properly? If not, what controllers are people using?
I've been looking at the 8bitdo retro receiver/SFC30 as well as the Club Nintendo SNES controllers, but before I convinced myself to part with the money I managed to pick up 2 brand new (seal in tact) Wii Classic Controllers which will do the job nicely. With a little bit of patience I paid less than £20 for each of them in the end.

The only drawback is the analogue shoulder buttons don't feel anything like the original SNES pad but I'm planning on modding them if the analogue sliders are not needed.

The Nes Classic emulator can't run certain games with different mappers, you have to use Nestopia or FCEUmm to play those.

About neogeo bios location with mame2003:

As suggested I uninstalled fbalpha2012 and put mame2003 mini instead. I updated the command lines for the NG games but NONE work.
As I thought I could use one single bios zip file as with fbalpha2012, I then copied the bios in each game folder.
Still, nothing works.
Does mame2003 require a specific bios ? The one I'm using is about 1.4Meg large and contains many files including the unibios.
Until someone can help me identify the problem I'll reinstall fbalpha2012.

Thanks.

Crazy. So last night I get two games working (Neo Geo Turf Masters and Windjammers) Last night while testing, I unselected all the games but the original 30 and the two I just mentioned just to speed up the sync process. They worked! I was happy.

Today, I had to go through the unsorted folder and put the games back into their respective folders. Go to sync my system, loads up as usual, open up Mame folder..............C8 error.

And not the kind that gives the C2 right after. I'm at 263MB on the green bar.

Now what? Delete some games and sync again?

Sounds like you didn't install a custom BIOS. I posted exactly how to do this several times if you look a few pages back..

You don't need neogeo.zip in ANY game directory..

Unplug the power (USB cable) and try it again and let us know the results.. How many games are in that folder? What is the size of the folder?

I unplugged, waited, plugged back in after a couple of minutes. Straight to black screen C8. In the folder that crashed it (Mame)......I think there's 16 total within 3 folders (I'm syncing right now.....) How can you verify the size of the folder?

How many main folders do you have and what position is your mame folder. I had similar problems. I uploaded 4 mame games. Then synced just them and the 30 and it worked. Then when I add them in with all my games and made a mame folder for them 1 of the 4 games wouldn't work. Tried making another main mame folder with 2 games in one and 2 in the other. Synced again and same thing still the 1 out of 4 wouldn't work. Then combined them in same folder again and made the mame folder sync 2nd instead of 6th and it fixed my problem. I also deleted a gameboy advance game but I don't think I needed to. So try moving your mame folder to sync like first.

Just look at the size of the games you're putting in the folders and add them up manually. If you're changing the core, I wouldn't load 16 games.. I would just start with 1 until you get that
to work.

If you setup the custom BIOS correct they would load. I put very easy to follow instructions on how to do this.

It's hard to compare your results to his though, since you're running an outdated version of Hakchi. That's the problem with running anything outdated and trying
to offer help.. your results may differ than everyone else.

I'm running 6 MAME2003 roms under the main folder with no issues (over 45MB as well)
