As there are many areas besides actually translating text to English or editing images that need to be adjusted when localizing this can't be easily measured and predicted.
Also those people do this in their freetime for free for others to enjoy so expecting them to release at a certain date is not something one would do in this situation.
The Gyakuten Kenji 2 team tried to meet certain release windows which they couldn't do so by not disclosing any date they don't have this pressure and don't disappoint people when they have to delay the release which is the best option for this kind of fan translation imo.

I think that they are taking too much time, because edit the images to pinpoint, 3D graphics, insert text and other things, aren't that easy as we think.

I'm also hyped about getting this game fully translated, I love Ace Attorney and it's a shame that CAPCOM didn't release this game in the west.

I wish they did like Fates did, released a barebones translation for those who simply couldn't wait any longer, and release more and more complete versions as they get more done. I respect their decision, though, I can see that it's easy to lose motivation if you do it this way

You guys keep saying "issue" but you never say what it is. You also said it wasn't a problem in the demo, so I can only assume it has something to do with testimonies or saving.

Wait, you were done with 4 and a half case May 2016? Shouldn't you be done by now, then? Or are you actively going back and improving the translation
The raw translation we use was done by then, yes. But like @Wuigi said, text is only one aspect of a game translation patch - we can't just open a file, translate the text and it's magically done. And yes, the raw translation is being improved and cross-checked with the original to get it right and it also didn't cover all text in the game.

Have you discovered anything interesting while translating the game? Like unused dialog or anything?

Luckily, there aren't any 3D models to edit, but there are still some technical issues to solve. But we did make a lot of progress thanks to the help of a great reverse-engineer in the last few days :D

FE:F and DGS are completely different games. While you can enjoy FE:F with untranslated parts because the story is only one aspect of it, that's not the case for DGS. The story is absoltely essential and the core of the game. Releasing it unfinished would do the game a disservice and as I stated previously - it's not the translation that's holding back the release of Episode 1.

There are minor changes to make sure people understand what's going on and get the jokes/references, but names and places remain the same. So localization yes, americanization no.

What's a "CAPCOM pointer"? But if you mean jumps and macros, then - yes, a long time ago...
Nononono.... There was some kind of issue with CAPCOMs way of programming the text jumps or something. I talked with a guy in your project and he said that a reverse engineer would be required to solve the problem.

I guess it was solved if you guys dont have any problems with it anymore

Pretty sure you mean jumps and macros. But if you want to make sure, you'll have to talk to that unnamed "guy" I guess :ha:

Just passing by to say that you're doing something wonderful for the AA fanbase. I hope this project gets finished and doesn't get cancelled (it happens a lot of times with this kind of stuff) so that we can play DGS too even though Capcom won't let us for some reason.

B) The only reason they set it in America was because of the bit in the first case of the first game which involved timezones. They were originally planning on making it an unnamed city, but had to make a definite choice because of that, and decided on California without giving it much thought.

Uh...I said the "original" game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which was localized by Bowne Global Solutions according to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Wright:_Ace_Attorney#Localization , and from what I've read from here: http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/Bowne_Global_Solutions , they seem like a third party company to me. Only from Justice for All onward was localized by Capcom.
I appreciate the effort they put into localizing the game and all, but still...

Ben Judd did Phoenix's voice (*in all DS AA games including the first*), and last I checked he is a former member of CAPCOM
